Any news on OUYA support?

Hi,

Is there anything on the roadmap for OUYA support?

Thanks.

Almost every build has checkin’s for handling controllers, keyboards, and mice.  The engineers have been working very hard to support Ouya.  I believe the dailies have supported their odd-sized Icon for some time now too.  If I remember Josh’s last post on this, I think the last piece is support for their IAP so you can put the apps in their store.  That plugin is still in development.

@Aidin,

You can use the key events for all of the Ouya controller’s digital inputs.  It also has a track pad and, although I haven’t tried it, I’m guessing the mouse events will work for that.  I’m still trying to puzzle out the analog inputs (the two sticks).  If I find anything out about that I’ll post back.

@Rob

Any ideas on how to grab the analog stick values for the OUYA controller?

@Roaminggamer,

Thanks Ed,

Do I have to do anything to run my Corona-built APK file on a retail OUYA? Like do I have to build with daily builds or attach ODK or enable DEV mode on OUYA?

Much appreciated.

I’m trying to get the accountant (my wife) to budget some money for me to pick up one to play with.  So I’m afraid that I can honestly only tell you things I’ve seen posted in the forums  or garner from the daily build notes.  Josh posted in this thread about 3 weeks ago:

It indicates that analog stick measurements was still in the works.

@Aidin, Have you tried after adding the build.settings from the above post?

@Aidin,

I recently built and ran an older gameof my on the device no problem (except for no analog sticks).

I change versions all the time, but I believe it was 1159 or within a few releases of it.

I didn’t do anything special.  I just built for Android and directly uploaded it using the standard technique ‘adb install -r your-app.apk’

It’s awesome that such progress is being made, but what’s the status on analog sticks?`

The notes on the dailies talk about GameStick and Ouya support.  Is there analog stick support (documented or not)?

Also, where’s the best place to find out when the sticks are usable and what the APIs for them are?

***EDIT:  Reading through the dailies led me to the “axis” support.  I’m still not sure how to differentiate between two sticks…  I’ll just have to test it out.

Hi @tjsamson,

Before too long, we’ll be making guides and tutorials for these topics. After all, we’re eager to show everybody how to use these new input devices. :wink:

Best regards,

Oh snap!  Time to check it out.  Thanks for the heads-up!

Hey everyone - I went ahead and created a forum for the Ouya plugin as that will be ready very soon. Might be easier to start conversations around this there:

http://forums.coronalabs.com/forum/627-ouya/

Unfortunately, I am but a lowly Pro user, and I have to wait until Corona officially supports the plugin. :frowning:

I made the Corona Pro plugin too it’s checked into the same place. I just have to whip it into shape to submit.

Wait, the Pro plugin is already finished?

Right. I have to package it up right and get it approved. But mostly, YES!
