Anybody heard of the Avira Appstore? Possible with corona?

Good evening everybody,

I got an email if I want to put my app into the Avira Appstore:

http://appstore-de.avira.com/

They say: 100% secure apps, as they test all apps before offering. Well, good.

When I asked on how to do it, I got the following response:

The link below is to the developer’s onboarding and app submission page.

  1. http://aviradeveloper.applandinc.com/
  2. Click on “Create new account”
  • Fill in the form
  • Review and accept the distribution agreement
  • Log into your account
  1. Go to “My account”
  • Copy the Open IAB Public Key found under the tab “Open IAB Public Key”
  • Paste it in your APK
  1. Go to “Add app”
  • Upload APK file
  • Upload metadata, screenshots, etc.
  • Choose price and apps stores to publish on
  • Save
  1. Go to “My apps”
  • Click “View/Update” on newly submitted app
  • Click on the tab “Edit In-App Purchases”
  • Add In-App products

Note:  Steps 3 and 5 are only needed if there are In-App purchases in the submitted title.

I wonder if I am able to put that Open IAB Puplic Key into my App (Basic Subscription).

I am also confused, how the IAP would work…

And I am not sure about the hole store at all, it works via applandinc.com and so I am not sure how Avira will keep track on security at all…

So, has anybody experience with this? Opinions?

Cheers,

Felix

Corona Labs has no formal support for this store.  Without knowing more, if they offer SDK libraries for their IAP, then you might be able to make their IAP work using Corona Enterprise.   If this works, it might be possible for someone to build a plugin that could be used by Corona SDK subscribers.  We are still working on our Plugin store, but there is a 3rd party plugin store that you might be able to talk into building this.

IAP aside, I’m not sure why you should not be able to submit a standard Android APK to them that doesn’t use IAP.

Rob

Thank you Rob for your answer.

So is it possible to put this “Open IAB Public Key” somewhere in my apk if I am basic subscriber?

Was thinking about making an ad and IAP free version and make it paid in their shop.

But I think this will need some more time, lots of things to finish on other places right now…

Cheers,

Felix

I just tried to create an app there (and my APK is still uploading) but I don’t see where it’s asking for an “Open IAB Public Key” which must be under the In App Purchases tab which I’ve not been able to open.

However googling around for Open IAB, this appears to be a high level library to set between your app and the various store SDKs.  In Corona terms, this is our “store.*” API calls.  We use a plugin structure for 3rd party stores and other that Futurmo, all others use it.  So we do not support Open IAB.  You can use this store to upload for pay or free (potentially ad supported) apps.

If you want to use their In App Purchases, it will require upgrading to Corona Enterprise, or convincing someone to release a plugin that would work with Open IAB or their store specifically.

Thank you again Rob.

Ok, so I think I will stick to my plan and release a paid version of my app there without any IAP and Ads.

However, it seems that there is not so much traffic at all and I need to fix other things before.

Cheers,

Felix

Felix,

I just received a similar email myself and I was wondering if you had any new experiences with Avira to share yet.  It’s only been a couple days so it may be premature to be asking. ;-)

Thanks,

Josh

Hei Josh,

I did not do anything farther in this direction, as I want to finish the next update first.

Maybe Rob has now some more information on this topic as he already was uploading an app to the store, some posts ago.

Sry,

Felix

Well I uploaded my game Omniblaster and set the price at 99 cents.  It’s only been a couple of days, but I have no downloads yet.  I also don’t have my banking info setup either because they want to use SWIFT codes, indicating international transfer’s and I had a really hard time getting that setup for Samsung.

Rob

I ran into similar issues with Samsung but I wasn’t as dedicated about getting an account set up as you were Rob.  I think I’ll hold off on Avira for now.  Thanks for the feedback guys!

Josh

I found out why I didn’t get any downloads.  They do an app approval process.  I got approved yesterday.

Rob

@Rob, any downloads this far?

Zilch, Zip, Nada.

Uploaded “Ultimate BlackJack Reloaded” 10 days ago still no downloads.

Anyone getting any downloads?
