Anyone build separate builds for iPhone and iPad?

Hi All,

So i have normally built universal builds for my apps - the reason being if the user is going to buy it then hey let them buy one thing which covers iPad and iPhone.

Now i am thinking that for my apps which are free perhaps single builds would be of benefit - more coverage in that you could assign the game under different categories ( iphone under family & entertainment, iPad under arcade & sports).

So my question is what is the extra work load - will i need 2 AppIDs ( an iPhone one and a iPad one?)

Any other things to consider ie iAds treatment etc…

anyone looked into this kind of thing?

T.

You say “more coverage in that you could assign the game under different categories (iphone under family & entertainment, iPad under arcade & sport)”.
In that situation, what happens if I search for arcade & sport on my iPhone? I wouldn’t see your game, so you don’t really have more coverage. Presumably you are not using any in app purchases? If you are then they will not be restorable across the 2 builds afaik.

Personally I don’t see the advantage to having 2 builds, potentially you also end up with 2 code bases to maintain, 2 builds which need reapproval for updates etc.
