Hi all - I have a client asking me to create a bar code scanning app that would be for trade shows.
They register people at the door, print out a badge with a bar code, and then exhibitors can scan their badge to get their registration ID.
Then, the exhibitor goes online, posts their scanned IDs, and downloads the contact info.

How much would someone charge me to create this with Corona Enterprise?

As far as bar code library - the open source libraries would be the ones I would want to see done with. For server side, I can probably do that, but if you could I’d prefer to see it done in .NET as this company is a Microsoft based company. (C# or VB.Net is fine)

zxing is the open source library that would be a good one to use.

I would get all source code and rights to the end result (except open source stuff, of course) so I can grant them rights.

I think Corona may not be the best fit for an app of your description. It may be possible with Corona Enterprise, I just don’t know if thats going to be the best solution.

Well, that’s my thought exactly - that someone with enterprise could build it - The reason being that I would like to use this project to get barcode scanning added to Corona SDK;

So if I can sell a job and get someone to write the module, maybe I could get Corona to add it as a feature?

It’s a long shot, I know.

I’ll probably just do it in phonegap (I mean, Apache Cordova)…

PhoneGap is probably your best bet.

I don’t think Corona is a right fit for your project at the moment, so you may need to write more about the projects needs before choosing a route that’s good for you. It will all depend on the strengths that the application needs to play on in order to pick the right development kit for you.
