app does not have valid signature - prefixes are messed up

Hi everyone,

very frustrated. I’m to test my corona build on my ipad and cannot get it to transfer. I get the usual ‘app does not have valid signature’ error.  I believe it has to do with the two types of prefixes. the ZBT… prefix is the one is use as seen on the xcode organizer screenshot.  The VT9…prefix was an old one and I think it is confusing the Corona Build for iOS.   I’ve trying choosing multiple profile but I cannot transfer the built app on to my iPad.

any help or advice is appreciated very  very much.

I have gone through in detail the instructions in the Corona guide: https://docs.coronalabs.com/guide/distribution/iOSBuild/index.html

but still can’t figure out what’s going on.

Corona Version 2013.2100 (2013.12.7)

Xcode Version 5.1 (5B130a)

Those numbers are not really relevant.  Can you post the entire message you’re getting?   You’re using the profile that has the check mark on it from what I can tell.

Hi Rob,

Here is the screen shot of the message when I tried to install on iPad.

Here is a snippet of the console log from the iPad:

So, just as an after thought, I tried to install on my iPhone…and first I still got the same msg. Then I futzed around and then voila, somehow the app got onto my iPhone (and works great). To compare here are the provisioning profiles present on my iPhone:

But iPad still does not accept the corona built app…same error msg : “T_his application does not have valid signature_.”

Any thoughts are well appreciated. BTW, totally jazzed you are helping me. I’ve been a reader of your postings for a long long time…so thanks for being here for us.

I got it to work but I don’t know exactly what’s going on.  I connected iPad and then uninstalled an older version of app (or what I think is an older version).

Then added ‘coronabuild.app’ file back in through configuration utility or organizer and then drag and dropped the app from my desktop onto the xcode organizer:

It worked. Here is what does not MAKE SENSE to me.  I named by app  “coronabuild”  but it shows up on my devices (ipad and iphone) as just ‘build’

However in the iPhone Configuration Utility - applications window it shows up as “coronabuild”:

I would still like some ideas on this or what I am doing wrong. Probably too many profiles that are not needed.

Cheers…

I almost never use the iPhone Configuration Utility.  I prefer to use Xcode’s organizer.  It generally provides more useful messages.  As for the build vs. coronabuild, can you take a screen shot of the Corona build screen just before you hit the build button?

Why did it work?  I can’t be for certain, there is still a lot of magic behind  Apple’s curtain when it comes to that.  I’ve found that sometimes having an old build confuse things.  Trying to install a build with an older version number than what’s installed causes issues.

I’m glad it’s working for you.

Rob here is what the build window looks like right before i build:

It could be pulling the name from your project folder, which is “build”.

AFAIK…iPhone Configuration Utility is dead in the water. Apple ceased support and for most users it should crash if you’re using the latest version of OSX. Maybe not the answer you’re looking for but I would drop it immediately and use Xcode for app transfers.

thx richard9, I will stop using iphone configuration Utility.
