App/Game Art/Graphics

Hello, I was just wondering how you guys get your graphics for your games or apps.

Thanks!

For art graphics that i make myself i use : GIMP , Paint.net and the legendary Photoshop. But my art skills arent great so sometimes i use OpenGameArt which is pretty awesome and on occasion, pixeljoint. Be careful about taking images straight off the internet because of copyright and stufff.

Regards Lemon

  1. Make them yourself.  I use Adobe Photoshop (There is now a $10 / month option for it) to make buttons and simple graphics.  While I can do magical things with a photo in Photoshop, creating graphic art is a challenge.  Many people also use Adobe Illustrator to do vector art, but that is also something I struggle with.  There a free Vector program called InkScape that many people like on the Mac.

  2. Find art on the Internet.  As Lemon said above, just don’t take it and use it, most of it is copyrighted and the fines for stealing art is pretty high.  There are some sites that offer free clip art or game art that you can search around for.  There are stock sites where you can pay a fee to license art from them.

  3. Find an artist to work with.  Most of my “real” art has come from working with a couple of graphic artists that I know.  There are several people who post in the Marketplace forum (http://forums.coronalabs.com/forum/561-other-products-and-services/) offering their services.  Some of them are quite talented and are looking for work.
