Don’t think you can change icon at runtime.

No idea why Apple rejected it, there are loads of free/lite versions as a separate app, including my 2 apps.

We found that your app appears to be a pre-release, test, or trial version with a very limited feature set. Apps that are in beta form, or that are for demonstration or trial purposes only, are not appropriate for the App Store and are not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.

It would be appropriate to complete, remove, or fully configure any partially implemented features.

Rather than providing a lite or trial version, you may wish to use In App Purchase to provide access to purchasing additional application features. Rather than requiring users to find, purchase, and download your other application from the App Store, In App Purchase provides a seamless, in app purchasing experience for your users, and an improved selling experience for you.

My app was rejected same reason. I had a “no ads” button that would link to the paid version. Instead of doing that they want you to do it through an “in app purchase” pop-up. [import]uid: 75779 topic_id: 32448 reply_id: 129064[/import]

It sounds like they are saying your lite version doesn’t offer enough to the player.

Not sure what you offer in the lite version against the paid version but you need to offer more.

Apple is wanting to cut down the clutter in the app store and if every app has a lite and a paid version then you end up with twice the apps. They haven’t been really enforcing it, but clearly they want you to use IAP for this. [import]uid: 19626 topic_id: 32448 reply_id: 129068[/import]

Apple does not allow lite or trial versions any more. I think you should explicitly avoid using these words and use IAP to enable the full version of the app. [import]uid: 76413 topic_id: 32448 reply_id: 129083[/import]

thanks for everyone’s feedback. my only concern is when they purchase the upgrade they will still have the old FREE app icon on there home-screen. any one got a work around for it ?

Rob, so basically call it FREE in the title, but keep the regular icons??

Yes, apple allows free/lite versions. What they don’t like is you showing disabled items in them. Like a disabled menu entry, or some disabled button. [import]uid: 160496 topic_id: 32448 reply_id: 129174[/import]
