I wonder if the news from today 06.22.2020 from the Apple press conf will affect Solar2D and existing apps in the store somehow?
What news specifically? Help those of us out who didn’t watch.
I also have this doubt! Apple strongly emphasized the issue of updating native apps to the new platform Silicon, hinted that they will make the issue of non-native apps even more difficult.

Mobile
I didn’t hear them say they are changing over to ‘Silicon’ for mobile. So, assuming that is true. No effect.
Existing MacOS Apps For Desktops and Laptops
- Till ‘Silicon’ shows up in devices, unlikely to affect existing apps.
- When it shows up, one must wonder if a translation software layer will be provided in MacOS to keep old software working. I think probably Yes. Thus, low to no effect.
- Long term, Solar2D will need to support building for this target, but I can’t imagine this won’t be gradual and enabled cleanly by Apple changes to existing Tools and libraries which we already use to build with.
What about the simulator?
- Same answer as for Existing MacOS apps.
