Statement by Apple on App Store Review Guidelines

The App Store? has revolutionized the way mobile applications are developed and distributed. With over 250,000 apps and 6.5 billion downloads, the App Store has become the world’s largest mobile application platform and App Store developers have earned over one billion dollars from the sales of their apps.

We are continually trying to make the App Store even better. We have listened to our developers and taken much of their feedback to heart. Based on their input, today we are making some important changes to our iOS Developer Program license in sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2 and 3.3.9 to relax some restrictions we put in place earlier this year.

In particular, we are relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps, as long as the resulting apps do not download any code. This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need.

In addition, for the first time we are publishing the App Store Review Guidelines to help developers understand how we review submitted apps. We hope it will make us more transparent and help our developers create even more successful apps for the App Store.

The App Store is perhaps the most important milestone in the history of mobile software. Working together with our developers, we will continue to surprise and delight our users with innovative mobile apps.

Apple: Is it that because you “have listened to your developers” or… Because you’re under the “microscope”?
I rather thank FTC and DOJ ! [import]uid: 6046 topic_id: 1948 reply_id: 5754[/import]

Does it matter why?

Corona now has a guaranteed future on the iOS platform. This is most excellent news.

So for all those holding off purchasing Corona I would advise you do it now while the subscription price is discounted. [import]uid: 5354 topic_id: 1948 reply_id: 5755[/import]

Well it does matter (for me).
This means we still have people who defend our rights, control over big monopolistic restrictions, and thanks to this, we will be able to continue enjoying the brand and it’s products without all the headaches. But well, that’s my opinion and what makes me happy.
Happy coding!!! [import]uid: 6046 topic_id: 1948 reply_id: 5756[/import]

This is GREAT news.

Just in time too as we’re about 75% complete with the development of our next game. [import]uid: 7849 topic_id: 1948 reply_id: 5757[/import]

Let the FLASH apps flood begin. :frowning: [import]uid: 5712 topic_id: 1948 reply_id: 5758[/import]

The individual often referred to as Carlos “Ansca Staff” in the forums, wrote a blog post regarding the new Apple TOS over at http://bit.ly/c1Oo1H. And The other fellow, often referred to as Evan, “Ansca Staff” who is our game engine guru, also wrote a blog post about the new Apple TOS over at http://bit.ly/bDhm5S

Thanks

Yep just read…
I think it’s exciting “not to be tied”. I think Corona now can count with lots of extra libraries of functions that (as other langs) can be linked to it’s core runtime library, extending it with tons of new possibilities, and this will of course give us “the developers” a lot more new possibilities…
The bad side is that I guess now Adobe will start fighting. But for developers who like to code, this might be different; I personally do like to code everything, and I think ActionScript 3 sucks In comparing with LUA. Corona was my first contact with LUA and I am loving it… (Still I think it would be good to have layers that respond to events depending on their position hehe) [import]uid: 6046 topic_id: 1948 reply_id: 5790[/import]
