Appodeal plugin causes occasional crashes

Hi. I noticed that Appodeal plugin is causing some crashes in my game on Android. I can see it from the Play Developed Console.

Those crashes seem to be related to the adcolony plugin:

In the Play Console they are named “Native crash in signal 11 (SIGSEGV)” and if I open the stack analysis I can see it is caused by the adcolony plugin. (/lib/arm/libadcolony.so)

Has anyone noticed something like this?

Yes. The AdColony Appodeal Plugin crashes from time to time. I have removed it from the list of plugins I use. You can do that by commenting out the plugin in the build settings.

Ok, I just did that. But not before someone put a 2 star review on my game, complaining about crashes <_<

I don’t get why Appodeal put this plugin in the stable version of their sdk, when it’s clearly not stable.

Anyway, I hope the guy will change his review after the update.

Don’t you hate that? It drives me nuts when I get a 1 star review after some random plugin causes an issue. The best you can do is to write a comment and let them know and anybody who reads it that it is fixed in the next release. Sadly Appodeal integrates something like 50+ ad providers, I can’t imagine how they test them all or if they can test them all. I try to keep my exposure to a minimal but sometimes wonder if it would be easier for stability if I just stayed with Admob (especially since I own the plugin).

Yeah it’s frustrating.  Also, this guy hasn’t change it yet and maybe won’t at all and this makes me think about how lazy and thick headed people can be. I mean, you leave a bad review to some guy’s app without even think about it - it’s just normal to give reviews - and then when the developer answers you and tells you it has been fixed, you don’t event mind trying it or removing your bad review. You just don’t care about the work behind this app that you just downladed from a store full of them when you were bored.

Anyway, I should probably get used to it. But it makes me sad because my game had very high grades and this guy and another one drag it down a little bit.

About Appodeal yes, it has way too many plugins in it. It probably don’t make much sense to leave all of them: maybe you’ll raise a little bit your eCPM but at the cost of increasing the app weight. When I built the game for the first time I left only 4 of them, unfortunately one of them was adColony. Now I just left adMob, appLovin and Facebook.
