Apps Breaking On A Specific Device

People that own http://www.ainol-novo.com/ainol-novo-7-flame-dual-core-1-5ghz-7-inch-1280-800-ips-screen-android-tablet.html or the other model of the same tablet (fire, instead of flame), are complaining that my app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kidoteca.matryoshka don’t launch on them.

I cannot figure why, anyone has a clue?

Hi @stan8,

Do these devices contain ARMv7 processors? That is required for any Corona app to run.

This information can be notoriously difficult to track down, and it’s very confusing because the ARM “family” is not related to the ARM “architecture”. I searched here, but still couldn’t locate if these two devices have ARMv7 processors.

If you can find this out for certain, we can figure out if there’s something else causing the inability to launch.

Best regards,

Brent

This processor is a Cortex A9 (that is a ARMv7)

Is the failure to launch consistent?

First guess when failing to launch is always memory, but these devices seem to have plenty.

Do you know if the OS’ on there are standard Android or a manufacturer modified one? If it’s modified it could be attempting to run something that the manufacturer changed (not sure what it would be in this case).

I use MX Log Collector on my Fire when doing testing, encounter the issue then launch it and it will email your device console logs. If you can get one of the users to do this (or someone here who has the same device) then it would at least give you some idea of what’s happening.

Have you seen anything strange like this when testing on Android?

I see this is a few months old, but did it get resolved in a daily build of CoronaSDK?  I just had a customer with the Ainol Elf II say the app updated and has since stopped working (works fine on other Android devices).

I don’t use daily builds, but I filled a bug report about this after buying a Ainol tablet, and downloading lots of random Corona games, and none worked.

I think they sent me a message saying that they fixed in a daily build, but since I don’t use daily builds, I am not sure.

Nevermind, I mixed up yesterday, the bug Corona fixed was another one.

This is still broken.

Hi @hawkwood,

Can you gather any error/debugging message from the ANR section in Google Play? Can you report which update caused the app to stop working, when that update was made, and which build of Corona was used to compile it? Any details you can provide  will be useful in determining what’s causing this.

Sincerely,

Brent Sorrentino

HI all,

I know this is an old thread but Im having exactly the same reports from a user who has an ANIOL ELF II running Android version 4.0.3

I’ve had another Aniol user in the past have similar issues (app crashes and boots them out).

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this?

Thanks,

Ian
