Are any Corona plugins going to be affected by Google's change to Advertising Identifier?

I’ve posted this message on a related post in the Vungle forum, but thought it best to post it somewhere were more people will see it, as I suspect the question will be raised more and more as we approach August 1st.

https://play.google.com/about/developer-content-policy.html

“Abiding by the terms of use. The advertising identifier may only be used in accordance with these terms, including by any party that you may share it with in the course of your business. Beginning August 1st 2014, all updates and new apps uploaded to the Play Store must use the advertising ID (when available on a device) in lieu of any other device identifiers for any advertising purposes.”

I presume that there is a change being made within Corona itself to allow support for this, can someone from Corona comment on whether other plugins are going to be affected by this new android ID change?

I know Vungle has just been fixed, and I’ve asked the developers about the Chartboost and AmazonAds plugins, but can anyone from Corona confirm whether these plugins will carry on working or will we need to update them:

plugin.carrot
plugin.gameanalytics
CoronaProvider.native.popup.social
CoronaProvider.analytics.flurry
plugin.GameThrivePushNotifications
CoronaProvider.gameNetwork.google
plugin.google.iap.v3
plugin.amazon.iap

These are just the plugins that we use, so if anyone else has any others they want to know about then feel free to add them here (I’ve left out ones that are iOS only such as the Facebook plugin).

With this new terms we have to use Admob V2 and the newest Plugin SDKs (such as Vungle 3.10 sdk - idk which version of sdk is available for corona devs, but i things its not the 3.10) to be able to monetize with ads? :o

The Vungle plugin has been updated (but only for Pro/Enterprise users).

Can anyone comment on any of the other plugins? This seems like it has the potential to cause huge problems for people publishing apps to Google Play, but so far we haven’t heard much about it one way or the other.

Our Chartboost plugin will not be affected either for anyone wondering.

Sorry I should have posted that after you replied to my message - a post from the dev is more reassuring though I guess

I’ve been trying to get a reply from deleurapps about their amazon plugin but they seem to be awol again. Finding out about the ad identifier is one thing, but as you may recall I’m specifically trying to find out whether they have added the interstitials to the plugin yet.

Last Thursday they implied it was almost done, but on your site I don’t see any changes to their documentation, and the sample code hasn’t been update for 3 months. I’d try tweeting him, but it looks like the @deleurapps account hasn’t been used for years.

Do they have a direct email address available for public enquiries, to save me having to bother you about it?

They have details listed on their site, yeah

This is their URL: http://deleurapps.com/

Cheers

Thanks for that, for some reason when I searched for deleurapps that site was way down the list, so I wasn’t sure it was the same people.

So will the plugins be ok when this google play ad identifier kicks in??? Was any progress made on this? I too, want to know if it will be ok going forward? Thanks.

The GameThrive push notification plugin will be updated in time for this change (in the next couple days).

Bumping this topic. Any “official” response from Corona for the other plugins?

We released a new public build today, so that Starter and Basic accounts can take advantage of a build that supports a minimum of Androld 2.3.3 which is a requirement for Google’s’ changes.  Any plugin that has been update to work should now be available to all users.

As for which vendors have updated their plugins, your best bet is to contact them.
