Audio volume levelization

Hi,

I am doing a sound design and a music composition for a developer that uses corona for iOS. I deliver the audio at -16 LUFS according to meters on my DAW. But the master volume control on corona seems to make the audio louder up to a point where it distorts. I need to now what is Corona’s equivalent value of unity level used as a reference in all the daw’s. Unity level is when the master fader is set to 0 dB. And it’s not the potential maximum. I need to know to properly calibrate the sounds for coding and playback.

Hi,

You should make sure that the -16 LUFS exported audio does not cut at 0dB but retain a max peak of -3dB.

The reason is that compressed audio can and will drive peaks above 0dB during encoding.

If the developer still have distortion in the sound output, that can only be due to his programming where he simply drives the sound too loud. Lower it and the distortion will go away.

If the developer feels the sound is too lovw in volume, you can always export the music at - 12 LUFS and still keep max peak at -3dB. It will be louder and he can then lower the volume parameter while retaining a louder sound. Louder than -12 LUFS will not sound good and -16 LUFS is in general a nice level for music, as I am sure you are aware.

Hope it works out!
