Avast Antivirus Malicious Code

We have had several Android users in the past couple days report that our Corona-built app is being identified by Avast Antivirus as containing malicious code. I see several past reports of this on the forums, but no clear cause or fix.

The app includes the Flurry and More Info plugins. This build was made in January, and the app has hundreds of thousands of Android installs, but only started getting reports within the last few days, likely after Avast released an updated set of definitions.

Anyone else seeing this? Any advice?

So I downloaded the latest Avast onto my non-testing every day personal phone (LG G7, Android 9.0). It has all my games installed and RogueJack (Pony Wolf) from the Google Store. It did not report that any of my games or RogueJack had a virus or contained malicious code. I would suggest that you gather more info from the people that claim the malicious code.

If you can and want share your app name and i’ll download it from the Play store and see what Avast says.

That is likely a false positive from Avast.  This topic comes up occasionally.  It is always traced back to a false-positive. Report it to Avast with details so they can correct their issue.

We reported the false positive and they took care of it very quickly!

Thanks for the replies.
