why does my background image hide my other images?
Because it’s on top of everything else. If you’re using storyboard, it’s very likely you did not add your background to the scene’s group. Storyboard scenes sit below ungrouped display objects. This is by design so you can have elements that stay on the screen regardless of if they are part of a scene or not.
