background property for Widget.newTabBar workaround?

Team,
Background property for widget.newTabBar does not seem to be working. Tried providing the file name(e.g navBar.png) to the background property but got an error.

WARNING: Failed to find image(background)  
Runtime error  
 ?:0: attempt to index a nil value

Seems like a know issue but have could not find any workarounds posted for this issue. If anyone has a workaround please do let me know. If not, then the only option would be go use display.newImage to display the navBar image.

Also, is there a bug logged for this issue.

Added case #10140

Still not sure how to keep track of this case. On the ansca site it shows a submission number #3323 and then get a case no of #10140.
