Hi Rob,

thanks for ur answer.

anyhow thats nothing new since 1 Year.

Its only to disable finally a few files from being backuped to iCloud. by standart all in the Documentsfolder seems

to be uploaded.

BUT!.. where is the function to download it??? Thats what we all ask here for.

It would be really great if that function comes a prio. Than we all would not always have to listen from our users,

that while getting a new device they lost all their game/app data … and they got all data back from native ios apps.

its a basic, thats offered from ios now since quiet long time.

please talk with the team

thanks chris

Hi is there anything new?

Its not about just to set setSync… its about to also download (really SYNC) the data!!

Bumping this, as I too am interested in syncing files through iCloud with Corona, and haven’t been able to get any clear or solid information on this. Are there any tutorials? Does anyone have any experience or advice?

Thanks!

As best I can tell, Corona does not yet support iCloud save sync.

native.setSync() and native.getSync() are used to set/poll status of whether files in systems.DocumentsDirectory can be backed up or restored as part of a cloud backup (ie: you bought a new iPhone and restore from iCloud instead of start fresh - this setting controls whether your systems.DocumentsDirectory stuff comes along for the ride.) For virtually any Corona user this should be left alone, as it’s ‘on’ by default.

If you want to show your support for adding iCloud save sync, you should probably vote for it here

@richard9: Thanks for the clarification! That helps a lot. I just gave three votes to the iCloud Save Data Integration topic.

Any update on file sync via iCloud?

Come on, it’s a system feature for some long time… Not having it simply sucks

So many Users complain after switching phones they lost all data :frowning:

@guruk

Yes, I know, it’s a feature as obvious so I am amazed it’s actually not working. Not even as a plugin… So many Corona devs and no one syncs app state?

Right now I am developing a free app with consumable IAPs, but the app profile requires not to use GameCenter. I wanted to let the iOS handle crucial app state data and have it synced via iCloud automatically. I’ve enabled iCloud for my App ID, set up iCloud Container and now I realized Corona simply does not support iCloud storage and sync at all… native.getSync and native.setSync APIs are only for backup when it comes to archive a device. A total letdown, to be honest…

I wonder if anyone of Corona Staff reads this thread.

guruk, can you change the thread’s title to something more accurate? Like ‘file sync’ instead of ‘backup’?

a dream would come true.

its that really more and more users just trust into the cloud and dont care anymore about backups.

they like to switch phones with their apps and games and voila there should be all the same like on their old device,

the app AND VERY IMPORTANT “the Data they collected”!!!

CORONA TEAM> Wake up, you would make lots of ppl happy with that feature . A simple ALLOW CLOUD

and it works automatically with Android and iOS. … yes that would save 10 Times Coding !!!
