My app is 320 x 480 with letterbox scaling. I thought I’d have to redesign it to accommodate a banner ad at the bottom, but on every device I’ve tested it on, the banner ad displays in the blank space below my app that letterbox creates.
Am I just getting lucky, or will most mobile devices display a banner ad below my app?
That is just coincidental for your particular test case.
You could try and adjust the top so that there is no black box there and then there would be more room for an ad at the bottom

It would certainly increase the number of devices you could safely display bottom banner ads without them interfering with your app.
I was just going to give users the ability to close the banner ads, but the Corona ads don’t seem to have this functionality.
