Beware of Apple

If you plan on making money in itunes beware that you have to bring in $150 in PROFIT before they’ll let you withdraw the money YOU earned. Totalitarian policies at its finest.

Yup, I know that one and that’s just how it is.

It would be nice if they can just send you the money right away but that’s the case with many earn-with-your product services. There is a minimum that needs to be reached. Services such as CafePress, LuLu, Google, Mochimedia - all those services have similar policies with money.

It’s a bit of a pain, but think about the legions of possible buyers that the App Store can give you. Add to that Ansca’s efforts to promote our own efforts, you are getting a huge marketing lead.

Google has been sending me my money pretty much every 3 weeks…regardless of how many i’ve sold (btw i’ve sold 5x more on the android markets than IOS).

It’s just apple’s policies that are horrible.

P.S. I remember the stories of devs waiting months before they got their app approved on the iTunes app store. [import]uid: 12716 topic_id: 7942 reply_id: 28260[/import]

That’s good to know. I was referring to Google Adsense. What service are you referring to by Google. If I can understand a bit more, does that mean if you sales were $5 they would pay out on that amount or is there some other prerequesite. [import]uid: 8045 topic_id: 7942 reply_id: 28264[/import]

This is from their Google checkout. Its what they use when people buy your app. I never read the fine print but they seem to send my money consistently without a predetermined amount [import]uid: 12716 topic_id: 7942 reply_id: 28269[/import]

Ah righto, Google Checkout is comparable to a PayPay 'esque approach. Ok, I get it. Yes, that would be a better option. I mean what if you’re at $149.99 (in profit) and your app just drops. You’d be waiting just like these guys [import]uid: 8045 topic_id: 7942 reply_id: 28271[/import]

Omg lol at that video [import]uid: 12716 topic_id: 7942 reply_id: 28272[/import]

ciaphus, I take it you are very new to selling via the App Store?

The reason I say that is because until mid-late last year, you actually had to accumulate $150 per REGION to get paid for that region; they then cut it down to simply earning $150 total which everyone was very happy about.

It might be a tad infuriating but keep in mind it used to be a lot worse.

Also I second what Luna said regarding all the possible buyers that Apple presents your app to - it’s still a great deal, IMHO.

I’m honestly shocked that you’ve had 5x the number of sales on Android - my experience has been vastly different, as seems to be the norm. Mind if I ask what kind of apps you sell on Android? (As in, games, utilities, etc.?)

What if you make less then $150? and on 2nd month you pass $150 then you get paid?
im assuming it accumulates your earning and when you pass $150 you get paid?

And what exactly did you mean by PROFIT? Do you have to report to apple
how you much you spend? Or any amount you make is consider profit?

I`m close to sending my 1st app to apple so this topic seem interesting
is good to know in advance before it catches you by surprise lol [import]uid: 30314 topic_id: 7942 reply_id: 28523[/import]

@kurosaki88 - It accumulates, yes.

I wasn’t sure why “PROFIT” was in caps either; it’s just that you have to earn $150 total.

I guess maybe the OP meant you can’t sell 100 0.99 apps because Apple takes 30% - so you need to make $150 total after they take their 30% which you would have expected anyway, I’m sure.

“Profit” was the wrong word to use - you just make $150 total and get paid.

Also, last I knew they didn’t hold it forever if you didn’t make $150 total - they paid out either at the end of the year or at the end of financial year regardless. (I forget which one.)

Hope that helps clear things up

@ Peach

Yea makes sense and I think if you plan making earning from an app
you expect to make more then $150 it just seem confusing to me
when he said and caps PROFIT

but to clear things up if you only made $100 the 1st month
and lets say 2nd month you make $100 more you now have
$200 so they pay you the $200 (this numbers are based on
apple already taking there %30) my somewhat confusion was
what happens if you made less then $150 1st month but you
manage to accumulate on 2nd month`s earning and you break
$150 do you get payed or you had to make a new $150 makes
sense? But now that I think about if you had to make pass $150
every month to get pay then apple would be stealing your earnings
so im wrong lol I think I got it now =p

btw Peach keep up the good work I been to your website and
your tutorials cleared things up for me when I started programming [import]uid: 30314 topic_id: 7942 reply_id: 28530[/import]

Hey again

Yes - to be totally clear it ACCUMULATES. Once you have earned $150 total, over one month or ten - it doesn’t matter. Once you have earned that much total you will be paid

Glad you have enjoyed my website and tutorials; I do my best!
