Big News: Learn Lua and Corona by a game development expert!

Long story:

Two months ago, I decided to temporarily put aside Cocos2d and invest some time to Corona SDK. Cocos2d is a true diamond, but you have to master Objective-C first. Corona, on the other side promises a lot in a short time.

Through all this time, I had been in great doubts on whether this choice will be proven right or just a waste of time. The main reason was that despite Corona seems to be so convenient and promising as a platform it’s not yet a widely accepted and tested product. “Should I trust Corona?” -this question had been constantly echoing in my ears.

So, what has been changed?

One of the mates that I mostly respect in cocos2d community, and who has invested hundreds of hours promoting Cocos2d (almost as a daily job), now begins to flirt with Corona SDK!

Steffen Itterheim, who has just finished writing the first book available on building games with Cocos2d (excellent reading by the way), is now starting a blog-site about learning Lua and Corona. The site follows the same educational concept as his other, mature, site on learning Cocos2d. The latter, already has hundreds of devoted followers, as Steffen is indeed a great tutor and knows game development challenges inside-out.

So, I have a reason to be very happy today: If Steffen is joining the club (the Corona universe) my own choice to invest on Corona can’t be wrong!

Thanks magenda I’ll check it out [import]uid: 7911 topic_id: 3013 reply_id: 8775[/import]

Ahh, I knew I heard that name before. There was quite a story going on at the Cocos2D site about him and Ricardo. [import]uid: 5712 topic_id: 3013 reply_id: 8826[/import]

Yes, there was a misunderstanding once. I don’t see any hard feelings though…

In a digital universe, Rick would be an excellent, free, constantly updated, piece of optimized code, whereas Steffen would be a perfect, low priced, hands on, documentation set for using the code.

Even if they are not affiliated, they fulfill each other!

Edit: Well, since Steffen is now a member of these forums, I guess I shouldn’t post any more about what concerns him  [import]uid: 7356 topic_id: 3013 reply_id: 8838[/import]
