Black Screen Beta Testing iOS App

I have created a storybook app using the Kwik plug-in for Photoshop  and Corona SDK. I am using Photoshop CS6. My iPad was added in the member center and is accessible in Xcode and I have installed my app for beta testing on my iPad using Xcode. When I launch my app the default cover page opens and then everything goes black. The app never opens.

I tried testing in the Xcode simulator and am having no luck. The app won’t load in the simulators.

I am not receiving an error message, crash reports, and all the screen shots are black.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch the app
2. The cover page of the book opens
3. The app goes black
4. Close the app and attempt to reopen and the application is black, nothing is running.
5. Uninstall the app in Xcode
6. Reinstall the app (step 2 and 3 repeat)

Do you have any instructions on how to correct this issue?

My suggestion is to look at the device’s console log and look for errors.  If you do not know how to do that, this tutorial will help you:

Hi Rob,

I reviewed the instructions and things are a little different in xcode 6.1. The devices are not located in Xcode organizer anymore, devices are separate and I’m able to locate and see my device but I don’t see an option for console to view any error messages. Under View Tab, there is Debug Area but the option to “Activate Console” is greyed out. The only options I have are “view device logs” and “take screenshots”.  I am having no issues running my app in the Corona Simulator. Everything is running smoothly and there are no errors but when I get to xcode it’s another story.

If this helps, I’m using Xcode 6.1, ipad 8.0.2, Kwik 3.3.2, my app is 448.7MB compressed

No errors in corona simulation

app uploads to device in xcode without issue but will not run.

Thanks,

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve updated the tutorial to cover Xcode 6.  I invite you to go back and see the screen shot.  There is a very small button you have to click to get the console log to show.  A screen shot has been added to the tutorial showing you the location of that button.

Rob

Thanks Rob. I was able to locate my list of errors. Now I just have to interpret the information.
