Blog comments censored?

Clarification please…

I recently had a blog comment removed without any notice to me. I didn’t think too much about it at the time as I was simply reinforcing a point that had already been made by another commenter…

Today I posted a new comment on another blog posting and my comment did not even appear… Am I now on a blocked commenters list? Are you only allowing positive thoughts and comments on your blog? What about this forum? Please point me to your blog & forum rules so I know what is going on.

Thank you very much.

Hi Kerem,

I haven’t removed any of your posts recently (or ever, that I recall). You can review the forum rules in the link below. When posts are removed, it’s usually because one or more of these rules were broken, i.e. the post was not polite or appropriate, was not on topic with the subject or OP, etc.

Hi Brent,

Thanks for your response and the link to the forum rules. I don’t believe I have violated any rule so

The comment that was removed was on the Blog page, on the Graphic 2.0 blog post by Walter. I had commented about the lack of documentation readiness in support of G2 transition and I guess that rubbed someone the wrong way…

Since that removal I did not comment again on the blogs till today so I did not realize the issue. Today I commented on the new Corona Professional Services announcement and that comment did not appear at all. The first had appeared and then was removed. Now my comments do not appear at all so I can only imagine I am on a blocked commenters list of some sort.

Kindly confirm this is the case so I know not to waste my time commenting from now on. There are always alternate avenues to voice one’s opinions thankfully.

Regards & thanks,

Kerem

Hi Kerem,

I can vouch that you’re not on some “blocked list”. I don’t know why your post from today did not show up. Perhaps a technical glitch or a simple mistake… literally, there are dozens if not hundreds of spam posts which have to be sorted through, many of them coming from spam-bots, and perhaps yours was accidentally removed.

In regards to voicing your opinion, we are fine with that, but be polite and considerate of other readers as well. It’s a public blog potentially with readers of all ages, and what you consider “fine” may not be considered so by all readers.

Documentation for G2 is available, actually, and linked in Corona University. I plan to make various additions and improvements to these as well, as time permits.

Brent

I could see CL taking a “harder line” on the blog than in the forums since the blog is more “public.”

I thought everyone was as “mellow” as CL until I recently got booted from a Facebook group because I dared speak my mind.

At least here you can say the SDK sucks, or XYZ is better/faster, etc., and as long as you’re not an ass they allow the messages to stand. It’s not like that everywhere and it’s *refreshing* that CL is comfortable enough with their decisions that they allow dissenting opinions.

(Unless your initials are KS!!!)

Kerem, is the blog post you think was deleted perhaps actually on this thread (not a blog post?)

http://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/41391-which-download-updated-api-docs/

I’ve had blog replies delayed by moderation, and there seems to be some weird requirement that blog replies need my Corona account email address and web urls to be filled in in order to successfully submit a comment, so perhaps your second one just never made it through the technical hurdles.  But I would be surprised if anyone at Coronalabs is actively censoring you posts given how tolerant CL has been of criticism in the past.

What Facebook group Jay?  The two groups I know of are not managed by Corona Labs.  One I’m an admin in but I was before I started working at Corona Labs and I pretty  much just add new people in when I see them.  If you were booted from there, it wasn’t Corona Labs doing it (and I’ve never booted anyone who wasn’t a pure spam account).

As far as blog post moderation, you have to have your first comment approved, after that they should show up immediately.

Rob, it wasn’t a Corona FB group, it was for Udemy instructors. They recently changed their terms and I don’t think they’re trustworthy anymore – in fact, I believe they’re being completely underhanded (stopping just short of calling them theives). I’ve stopped sending people to them and will only be putting my new tutorials on their site at 2X the price of what they’ll be on my site (or, I may just skip them altogether).

In a nutshell, they switched from offering instructors 70% of the course price to 25% to 50% max. They will tell you the max is now 100% to the instructor (minus 3% CC processing), but they’ve constructed that in such a way that almost nobody ever gets it. Kind of like winning a prize at a carnival – it’s rigged to favor the house.

Ok. I am convinced something is different. Not saying it is an intended form of censorship but this way or that, my blog comments are not appearing anymore. In the past when I commented on a blog post my comment always appeared immediately. Whatever changed, after that fateful day I commented on the G2 release piece, seems to have put me in a vacuum… I tried again today. Even said nice things for a change!  Still no joy… Oh well.

Honestly, I don’t see any posts (internally) from you in the past week Kerem. I don’t know what may have changed. Which is the last post you commented on?

Brent

Hi Brent, thanks for looking into this. Last comment posted last night was on the Business App Sample blog entry :

http://www.coronalabs.com/blog/2013/10/09/a-look-inside-a-sample-corona-powered-business-app/#comments

There is a comment posted on 11/19 by a fellow member indicating that they could not run the sample app in G2 and I told them about Graphics 1.0 Compatibility Mode and it just did not show up. If this is a system issue then others should have experienced it by now.

Are you sure there is no blocked commenters list somewhere in there? Maybe someone else at CL put me on it when I annoyed them last week.

Just to test I will go and comment on the most recent blog entry from today : “Launching an app on a tight budget”. See if you can trace this one. Thanks much.

Edit - Comment posted. Still not appearing. Thanks
