Bombaroo! just released - Free download!

Hooray!!!

Today is a big day because my first Corona game, Bombaroo! was just released on the app Store. It’s a twist on the classic match-3 game, where it’s essential to make chains of matches to advance, which makes the game pretty addictive, if I may say so myself…

Please do me a favor and download it for free on:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bombaroo!/id492109454?ls=1&mt=8

I plan on doing some tutorials on how I made the game soon on my blog and here so stay posted - and of course, if you like my game, feel free to support my hard work and unlock the full ad-free version after the 4 trials of the advanced FireBomb mode! Or just use the Facebook post to make some publicity for a Corona game

I’m more than happy to answer questions any of you might have regarding the development. I made the whole thing from start to finish, graphics and music included so I’m proud

Thanks, and once again, hooray!!!
Thomas

p.s. Here’s some screenshots to warm you guys and girls up a bit

Congrats!!! Nice job. I am jealous since I am still working on releasing (soon) any nice looking app. I am going to download it and leave a review.

You may also check the following link and join the group where you maybe able to get even more reviews. At least that was the intent

Terrific app! How long did it take you to develop? I tried it on my iPad 2 and it work beautifully. The only thing I missed the first time was the time bar at the top but then I realize I was being timed. I usually do not play these type of game but it is well done.

Congrats again. I will leave a review as soon as I can.

Hi guys and thanks for the positive feedback!

@RSCdev: yep, all the artwork was done in Adobe Illustrator, with some touch-up work done in Photoshop

@dingo: thanks! I really love your Grooh game as well - excellent style and artwork, did you do this yourself? I love how I can be a one-man shop with Corona.

@Lairdgames: I guess it took me about six months, at about two evenings per week. The funny thing is the part of time I worked on things: the game mechanic was roughly 20 percent of the work, graphics and music another 40 percent, but surprisingly the other 40 percent of the work was getting things to work right under all circumstances: iPhone, iPad, iPad 3 differences in graphics, ad placement on various screen sizes, facebook and in-app purchases. I thought that would only be 10 percent of the work but boy was I wrong! The good thing is that the next game will go a lot faster since I was a complete Lua and Corona newbie before Bombaroo! so I expect things to go a lot faster the second time around.

Thanks for the comments! Feel free to let other people know about Bombaroo!

The graphics look awesome. I would try it but all I have is android devices. I have a question. If you had a pro accountyou ciuld just build that very same source for android no? Your market would be twice the size. Games like yours are the ones that get popular! [import]uid: 143556 topic_id: 25486 reply_id: 103058[/import]

Thanks for the compliment Mike V! I’m in the process of buying my pro account and have the game running in the Android simulator just fine, so I hope I’ll have the game ready for release in a month’s time. All I need to work out basically is in-app purchases and publishing for Android (and buying one or two development devices for Android). I’m a total Android noob but if you’re interested and it’s possible to do so I’d be very happy if you’d be willing to do some test runs on your device, once I’m close to finishing!

Cheers,
