Both Paid and Free App for iOS?

I thought I read somewhere (from Apple itself is my recollection) that Apple would reject apps if they were just another version of the same app. I believed they referred to customer confusion over similar apps and titles. I read this to mean that I was not welcome/allowed to place a free/ad-supported version and a paid/ad-free version of my app in the Appstore. But a lot of recent posts here are still advocating just that.

So what’s the deal? Is this not Apple’s position. Or are they just not enforcing it or doing so sporadically? I’d love to release both versions, but I don’t want to risk either (or both) being rejected, as I really don’t know yet which way produces more revenue (paid vs ads). I have never heard of such a thing. I’m pretty sure that Apple just doesn’t want the names to be the same etc: Shane App, Shane App. They want it to be like Shane App, Shane App Lite. I’m pretty sure you will be fine uploading two of the same applications as long as one has ad’s and one doesn’t.

To second Jordan I have never seen this present itself as an issue.

Not something I’d worry about  [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 20001 reply_id: 77985[/import]
