Build 2012.777 not working for Kindle Fire

Hey Coronas

I am updating a Kindle Fire (KF) app originally built with 2011.704. Since then I installed 2012.777 which was fine for my Android 3.1 App. Compiling with 777 now gets this KF system error message, on running the installed App:

WARNING! Please build this app for Amazon/Kindle. This build is not supported on this device.

So recompiled with build 704 and all is well. Its always something…

Hey, @alangrus, did you compile the build using Corona Simulator > Build > Amazon/Kindle option? I’m using 776, and I am able to compile a Kindle build and install it on Kindle without any problem.

@Naomi

Well yes. I know of no other way to compile.

It may be true that build 776 works, but I am reporting 777 does not work for Kindle Fire.

Well this is interesting. Just for laughs, I installed Build 776 (it so easy). Now I get just fine results with a 776 compile. Same as you Naomi. Thanks for speaking up about this.

Looks like the ANSCAs introduced a bug in 777 for Android 2.3. Good to know about this.

Ah, got it. I’m sorry, I misunderstood. I’m finding my way around developing/porting for Android (and it’s a frustrating experience for me so far – not the part about adapting Lua code, but simply getting the Android/device specific dev/build environment to work. Yikes.)

Hey, @alangrus, glad to hear you were able to build & install using 776. Now we know it’s a problem specific to 777.

Cheers,

Hmmm I was building for KF just fine last night with 777.

I’m using 776 and I’m getting this error.

[File: SassysEasterAdventure.apk] Unable to parse Android app bundle [W/ResourceType(28319): Bad XML block: header size 28024 or total size 1702240364 is larger than data size 5894 ERROR: Resource AndroidManifest.xml is corrupt] [import]uid: 11860 topic_id: 24486 reply_id: 99111[/import]

1,702,240,364 as in 1.7GB? That’s huge. Do you have your resource original files in the folder or something?

[import]uid: 19626 topic_id: 24486 reply_id: 99114[/import]

Nope I don’t know why it says that…

The file size is only 25.5 meg so it’s kind of crazy.

Any other clues?

alangrus,

We checked our server log and noticed that you were not doing “Kindle” builds. You were doing generic Android builds instead. So, when you display the “Build for Amazon/Kindle” window, do you get a warning window stating that your subscription does not support it? If so, then it sounds like you are being downgraded to a trial version and that you need to re-authorize your machine to support your PRO subscription. You can do so by clicking the “Reauthorize” button on that warning window. [import]uid: 32256 topic_id: 24486 reply_id: 99563[/import]

OI! My Bad. I just carefully recompiled with 777 for Kindle Fire and got perfect results. Thanks for looking into this.
