Build for ARMv6 with old version

I understand that Corona no longer supports ARMv6 and I understand the reasoning behind this, but I do have a question. I have been using the evaluation version 2011.377 that builds for ARMv6, and I want to know if I will be able to create release builds for both Apple and Android using this version once I buy a subscription.

Not trying to rehash old fights, just want to know  [import]uid: 33963 topic_id: 15859 reply_id: 315859[/import]

If you have an older version that works, YES you can continue to build for *GASP* even android 1.6

So at this moment, if you buy the license, download the latest version of the SDK and retain the older version too. Then while building for Apple, use the latest one and for Android the older one.

NOTE: There are differences which could give you errors.

cheers,

Many thanks. Corona just made it to the front of the line.

Hi Lucas,

When you are a proper user you can then access all the older archived versions - your license is for the product and not a particular version of it

Peach, you don’t have to be a “proper user” to access older versions either. Unfortunately Corona is clever and stopped me running it at runtime xD [import]uid: 79135 topic_id: 15859 reply_id: 62632[/import]

where exactly can these archived versions be found? I don’t see links to them anywhere on the main navigation, or within the daily builds page. I figured they weren’t accessible. [import]uid: 49447 topic_id: 15859 reply_id: 62642[/import]

Andrew,

“You have to be a proper user to use them” would have been more accurate, yes.

Still, I’m thrilled to hear that you got blocked from running it - the Ansca team work ridiculously hard to make Corona wonderful and when people try to steal it, well, I just hate that.

Producerism, I’m not certain - let me get back to this thread later today.

Update: The ancient build used to build for armv6 devices isn’t available any more. If you have it you are free to use it although there is no support available as it’s just too old.

Sorry :frowning:

Any chance that you could post the old build for people who need to build for ARMv6 devices? I understand it’s not supported, but still, just a download package would be nice. [import]uid: 95354 topic_id: 15859 reply_id: 66726[/import]

So long as you understand it is not supported (at all) - http://developer.anscamobile.com/sites/default/files/corona/2011.319/CoronaSDK-2011.319.dmg

Hi Peach,

Would you be so kind as to provide a link to the Windows version?

Thank you!!! [import]uid: 99513 topic_id: 15859 reply_id: 67801[/import]

I recommend just posting a link to the latest version which supported ARMV6 (both windows and OSX links) somewhere on the site with a huge These files are no longer supported, use at your own risk! message.

I realize the reluctance at providing them with easy links - no doubt, even with a warning like that there will be all sorts of forums postings with “why doesn’t my code work with this old build?” topics, but it’s still a decent idea to provide them for legacy reasons. Link to Windows version: https://developer.anscamobile.com/downloads/coronasdk-2011268

Again, really have to stress we offer ZERO support for it.

@producerism - The reluctance is indeed to avoid people seeking support we do not provide (and cannot possibly) provide this far on.

Still, there’s the link.

Hi Peach,

Thank you for the link.

But, according to what I’ve read, the 268 version (377 for Windows) does have a bug that causes very low performace in several phones.

Is there a Windows version for the Mac 319 version?

Thank you.

PS: Please don’t make me buy a Mac computer just to run the 319 version  [import]uid: 99513 topic_id: 15859 reply_id: 68870[/import]

I do not have a link for that - and am unsure of what that Windows version number would be. (They’re in unity now but that wasn’t the case back them.)

The “bug” in that version exists in all versions (to various extents) that support older, lower quality devices.

That’s why the decision was made to shut it down - performance was dreadful until the switch.

Sorry!

Hello Peach,

First of all, thank you very much for your help.

It would be great to have the latest daily version for Windows (the equivalent to 319 in Mac), so if you have a spare time during the week… XD

… but in the mean time I have to say that I’ve been building with the 377 for Windows and my game has worked very well in Samsung Galaxy Ace, Samsung galaxy Tab and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

I will try to test it on Galaxy S (original) today.

Best regards
