Build my app for iOS, simple job

Hi,

Instead of spending time turning my PC into a Mac just to build my app on iOS I figured it might be easier to pay someone who already has their system set up to do it.

So this job is very simple, and quick, for anyone who can already build for iOS. It may require a bit of collaboration.

  1. I email you my apps code/ resources in a zip file (currently working on Android)

  2. You build for iOS (may have to work together to decide build settings, as I have not built for iOS before)

  3. Test on your iOS device to check it works if possible

  4. Send me the IPA

  5. I upload to Testflight and send out to my Beta testers (you are one of them, just to test the full process)

The app you will be building is already available on the Google Play store:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ninjavest.simplywallst

It  may required some tweaking to work on iOS, if this is the case and the work seems significant, we might agree to not go ahead with the job.

I would also need a written declaration that you won’t try to steal the source code for your own use (however crappy it may be) and that it will be deleted once the job is done.

Anyone who is interested please email me info at ninjavest.co and include a price, remember I could just use MacInCloud for $25 a month so would not expect to pay a great deal more than that!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Al

As an FYI, on the Mac, the Corona Build job does not ouput IPA files.  It outputs an .APP file and a .ZIP file.

And considering that this hopefully wouldn’t take you long, why not spend the $25 for one month?

You have another problem with your plan and its called keys/certificates…

Any dev building the app for IOS for you will be doing so with his/her keys & certificates. You can’t simply take this file and load into your Testflight. The dev would need to add your testers into his pool of approved testers and this would mean his/her count of 100 testers will be deducted accordingly. I think the MacInCloud for $25 is your best bet. This will also get you to work out all the IOS keys & certificates so you can release the app on App Store under your own name when the time comes.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your tips, as you can see I haven’t done the process for Mac - as I expected there are some areas I hadn’t considered.

The reason I am reluctant to use MacInCloud is a funny one… I am on a boat 200km offshore for the next 3 weeks, so my internet connection is similar to a 28.8kbps modem!

I will give it a go though - I will just have to be patient.

Thanks

Al

You can easily make .IPA files.

  1. Make a folder called Payload (case sensitive)

  2. Put your .app file inside the Payload Filel

  3. Compress the Payload folder.

  4. Rename to YourAppName.ipa

  5. Confirm you want to use the .ipa extension.

Regardless of using macincloud or getting someone else,  you are going to have to solve the key/certificate problem.  How important is it that you deploy while at sea?

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your help, I agree it sounds like it might be easier to wait until I have a decent connection to tackle this. I had a lot of users emailing me for an iOS version and I promised them it in 2 weeks - I thought it would be easy! Oh well.

Am I right in thinking it is possible to deploy a beta of an iOS app without paying the $99 license fee by using Testflight or similar, or do you need to pay this fee to create a key/ certificate?

Thanks

Al

No, you will have to pay Apple the $99 + tax up front.  You have to have an developer account to access iTunes Connect and the Apple iOS Developer Provisioning Portal.  The 2nd site is the one that is critical.  It’s here where you create the keys and certificates, add your test device ID’s and create the required provisioning profiles that are needed to build the app.  Without this, you cannot build an iOS app, even for testing on your own devices.

Rob

Righto, thanks for making that clear!

Well you have to spend money to make money

Rob,

Thanks for the information about the IPA creation.  Good to know.

I’d save up and by a Mac.   If you’re going to release on iOS, you’re going to have to support on iOS, so you may as well make it as easy as possible.   There will be fixes, new features, etc.
