Can I build to my own device with only the Corona Trial and without a Apple Developer Account?

That’s correct. If you pay the Apple fees you can build from Corona trial version and use it on a device (with a popup saying it’s a trial when it loads). You then can kick off your licensing with Corona once you’re finishing up development and ready to submit to the App Store.
