I seen this asked before, but the answers are far from clear. Can I call, from LUA (I know how to), native libs on the iPhone and still have it work / compile with Corona?

No, only the exposed Corona API’s are allowed. Lua supports calls to C language functions that could call the platform API’s, but Corona does not allow this capability.

Why is that exactly? Seems like a big loss of market capabilities and developer eco system. Makes us most definitely not write our next game in Corona. [import]uid: 104304 topic_id: 18448 reply_id: 70828[/import]
There was lot’s of discusion about this feature and it’s not possible because company/stuff/marketing etc etc etc reason and if you think about it sounds reasonable

It’s reasonable as gtatarkin said; and you might see Ansca’s side if you were to search before creating a new thread and read the responses from the team about this.
