I mentioned this in another thread, but I thought I’d better add it the official Feature Request forum here.
I too would like to see full camera support. There are some interesting games being done with “augmented reality”, and it would be nice to be able to create such games with Corona on both iOS and Android. Here’s a couple of games that do that.
Also, I’d like to see support for bar code scanning down the road as well (which is an extension of camera support). I have some ideas for both a game and an app that could use that. [import]uid: 11021 topic_id: 6648 reply_id: 306648[/import]
I would love to be able to overlay the current camera image with transparent PNGs and save the result.
QR code scanning would be realy helpfull for a lot of apps.
Could someone from the Ansca staff please comment if there are any plans to add those features to corona anytime soon?
I don’t see any possible way, currently, to implement an augmented reality app / game.
There is a compass + accelerometer support, but no camera input…
Am I missing some API or is it not possible (yet) with Corona?

Buuuuut, an api where we can edit what the camera can actually scan, for example how some cameras can recognise where the a face is while taking a picture.
I don’t think Corona will add those features any time soon.
The only way to do it atm is to take a picture, upload it to a server and maybe having some luck with a QR-Script.
Buuuut, what Corona should be able to and what I’m waiting for quiet some time:
Image Overlays for the Camera.

Is Ansca open to potentially create a plugin/SDK so that developers can contribute to the platform? I know it is closed source, but with a proper plugin/SDK it would be easy for more people to help add valuable libraries to the platform, which could be later on included in the core distribution. Barcode scanning is fairly high on my project list as well, I have purchased the pro license and am loving using this SDK, but it’s near useless without barcode interpretation.
