Can I get back my deleted lua codes? I have only the executable package.

I have developed a game in a folder inside \CoronaSDK\SampleCode. Unfortunately while I updated Corona SDK several days ago, all the folders in SampleCode was replaced by the new ones and my
folder is gone. I could find my folder anywhere.

Is there any way to get back my codes (mainly .lua)? Are these files stored in any server while I did
compiling? I have the compiled package and I know when it was generated.

Thanks a lot!!!

I don’t know if it’s possible or not. I think more YES, but with a lot of work and maybe with a result what is not satisfying you. Maybe you should put this time in recreating your old work from scratch - second time you are better

Hi heqin,

No - Ansca doesn’t keep copies of anyone’s files.

I am sorry to say that there’s no way of “decompiling” the project to get back the original files.

It’s a good idea to keep backups of your work, either on an external drive or on DropBox in case you do accidentally delete everything.

You should also not save your games in the Corona folder as every time you update Corona that folder is of course overwritten, meaning the old files will no longer exist.

Do you have TimeMachine or any other scheduled system backup running? If so, you can hopefully retrieve the \CoronaSDK\SampleCode folder from that…

ALWAYS - Keep backups in several places - A mistake that you’ll now never make again.

NEVER - Use folders/files that are used by an application to store your own files - it will get overwritten or deleted.

Good luck and I sincerely hope you get your work back. [import]uid: 74503 topic_id: 15128 reply_id: 56013[/import]

Thanks for all your replies. MS Windows applications usually keep user-generated folders/files.
I saved a lot of copies of the important lua files, unfortunately in that same folder.

As Sven.Lua said, I think I have to recreate my old work from scratch. I hope the second time
I am better, and pay more attention to backup.
