If you’re only interested in Lua, you would be better served joining a Lua community and seeing if folks there are interested in helping you:

https://www.lua.org/community.html

This is a game dev forum/community, AND we use a slightly modified (restricted) version of Lua 5.1 while Lua is currently at 5.3  So, again, if you’re only interest Lua, this is not the best place to learn about it.

I would suggest getting some books (you can probably find some in the local Library) or to enroll in a programming class. I know you said you tried books and videos, but you can’t give up on books.  The right ones really are an excellent source and starting point.

Once you learn a programming language in a formal setting, picking up up the next one should be pretty easy.  I’ll assume you’re in 6th or 7th grade which would put you in the tail end of elementary school.  If your school does not have programming courses, I’m pretty sure you next school (Middle school?) should definitely have them.

IMHO while Lua is a great language, BASIC is a better starting place for a new programmer, simply because there is no shortage of excellent learning sources on it.  Also, knowing BASIC you can quickly learn Lua.

PS - What books (titles) have you tried?

I forgot to mention this, but you might also consider enrolling in an online programming mentorship program.  There are many of them and I imagine you should be able to find a suitable one by searching.  (I’d search on the terms “programming mentor” or maybe even “programming lua mentor”).

If anyone reading has any suggestion re: any of the above or a good mentor program, please chime in.

PS - You should be aware you are completely welcome here, and I’m glad you want to learn programming.  I simply want you to get the kind of help you are actually seeking.
