Can I increase my OS minimum to 6.0 on app already in the App Store?

Hello guys,

I have an app that require 4.3+ but now I hoping to drop older devices like iPhone 3GS (since I do not have one) and go either to 5.1 or even 6.0+ Of course mainly because older devices are hard to test for and limits the type of apps you can make. The problem is found out if Apple allows changing OS version when the app is already in the store since people who already have the app may need to upgrade the OS or even the device.

I think I saw an email from Apple recently saying that past customers can reload older version of an app. Does this mean that we can drop older OS devices?

Thanks for any pointer on this.

Yes, you can change the minimum required version.

When you release an update, users who do not have the required minimum version will be told they will not be able to upgrade.  If they ever remove your app from the device and then try to re-install it, they will be told they cannot install the current version and ask if they want to install the last version that works on their device.

Thanks thegdog! So Apple allow dropping people with 4.3 devices who bought my game. That’s not great for those people since they bought the app. On the other end I doubt many people still have 4.3 or even 5.0 on their devices!

Thanks again.
