I know that Corona took out IDFA recently because folks creating apps for iOS that don’t show 3rd-party ads were getting rejected for using IDFA. However, or those of us how do need to use IDFA (e.g. install tracking attribution), can we get IDFA included back into Corona as an optional plugin? There are a lot of legitimate uses for IDFA, and for those of us who need it, we should have a way to get it, just like native developers.
We are looking into making a plugin for this.
Stay tuned
Awesome. I’d definitely buy it.
I PM’d you with even more ideas for a plugin that would go beyond Corona’s system.getInfo() call.
Thanks for the info, and additional ideas from your PM.
We had been considering an OS utilities plugin for a while, we just were not sure on the demand for such a plugin.
We certainly see plenty of helpful info/functions that we could expose to Corona developers as an all in one package.
Cheers
Great idea, an OS utilities plugin! Count me in.
I’d buy it… any update on what timeframe it will be, and will Pro subscribers be able to use it (not just enterprise)?
Cheers,
Ed

Any updates on this topic? Has anyone made or know of an IDFA plugin?
Any help is much appreciated!
Yes, Corona made a plugin recently to expose these - its called plugin.advertisingId
Hi @Mediaflex,
Just FYI, here’s a link to the docs on the plugin that @rune7 is referring to:
http://docs.coronalabs.com/plugin/advertisingId/index.html
Take care,
Brent
Does this work for Android as well and return the Android Advertising Id?
Hi @poon,
I haven’t confirmed with engineering, but this plugin is for both iOS and Android, so I assume it returns the advertising ID for both.
Brent
Hi Brent,
Does this means that the “old” Chartboost (not the plugin from Gremlin/ingemar) works now on ios? (ie: installs are recorded)?
Thanks a lot.
Mo
Another quick question: how do I use it? Just add it to the builds file and then use the old Chartboost (not the plugin)? I am having issue using the new plugin but not sure if it is me or something not compatible with the Ragdogstudios ads lib. I will soon work on it more but I need to beat Halloween rush (probably too late So I was hoping I can this IDFA plugin + the old Chartboost until I found more about the new Chartboost plugin issue with my code. Thanks Mo
Hi Mo,
I’m not familiar with the “old” Chartboost library, but I believe it’s no longer supported, so unless they open-sourced it and somebody has tweaked it to work, I can’t vouch for its functionality. Sorry about that…
Take care,
Brent
Thanks Brent. I was hoping that the new IDFA plugin will help on that. I am sure ingemar new plugin is the way to go. I am working with ragdogstudios to figure why i have an issue with it (I am sure on it is on my side) If I found something I will share.
Thanks again Brent!
