After doing research online (google mainly), no one seems to know for sure exactly what is required if you are an individual living in Canada and want to buy an Apple dev license. From what I’ve read so far, I either need to acquire an EIN number or ITTN number and have to send in a W8BEN form to IRS for whatever reason. I also read that when a Canadian signs up as an Apple dev - the membership is through Apple Canada. Part of the reason for that was handling taxes and revenue. For any money I make on a game, if the income is higher than $8000 a year I believe, then I have to pay taxes to my own government and of course have to claim any income I make from outside of Canada. AFAIK there is also GST (General Services Taxes that are paid per app in Canada). I believe that’s why if you have a Canadian iTunes account, you pay 1.04 per .99 cent app. GST is handled… or supposed to be handled by Apple Canada.
So if there are any fellow Canadian app developers here who could nudge me in the right direction, it would be very much appreciated.
I should be finished my game within the next two weeks hopefully (thank you Ansca for Corona - it is beyond awesome, though I’ll still have to port the game to XNA for win phone 7, bleh), so I hope to get the process of getting it into the app store going by that time.
One last question, (from what I’ve read, it seems to be ok), can anyone confirm if you can use a prepaid Visa from your bank to pay for the dev license? The only thing mine is missing is my full name.
Thanks much for your time. [import]uid: 10622 topic_id: 6941 reply_id: 306941[/import]
