Cannot create a new project

The New Project screen does not allow me to enter anything.  I installed Glider v1.9 some weeks ago and just installed some updates today but some modules were not installed. I’m on Windows 7 Ultimate.

Hello Ruben,

Sorry about this issue the update broke older installations of Glider. You can fix this by going to help-> user directory and delete the “modules” directory. If this does not work then I am afraid you will have to re-install. We will take extra measures in the future to ensure this does not happen to future Glider installations.

I already re-installed v1.9 and still does not work.  The New Project screen does not populate the Categories, Projects, and Description for the Samples project and the Next button is grayed out.

The good thing is v1.7 still works.

Hello Ruben,

Please try going to help-> userdir and delete the contents of the folder. This should resolve the problem.

Thanks, it worked!  One thing that it’s doing now is that when I run my code, it displays 2x in the Corona Simulator.  FYI… I have both versions 1.7 and 1.9.  Wonder if having both of them is causing this.

Hello Ruben,

We can confirm that the Mac Corona SDK does not show this behaviour. I believe the issue is fixed in the daily builds and Corona Labs will push the fixes to the next public release.

I ran some of the sample Corona projects outside of LuaGlider and it worked fine… the output was not displayed twice in the simulator.  I even ran my own app outside of LuaGlider and also worked ok.  I also uninstalled and reinstalled LuaGlider just to make sure but the problem is still there.  Is there a setting that I need to check?  Thanks.

Hello Ruben,

Yes the problem occurs when you run the simulator from the command line with a command line argument to the project main.lua file. If you launch the simulator and then run your app it will work just fine without double run. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about this.

At this point, it seems that I am left with no resolution at hand since M.Y. Developers cannot do anything about this and Corona responded with the following:

Rob Miracle has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed to titled “Output is showing twice in Corona Simulator”.

Can you not use glider and run one of the sample apps and see if this is happening?

There are generally two causes of this.

  1. you are doing: require(“main”) in your main.lua

  2. you are using Glider. Since you are using Glider, I would recommend that we move this post to their subforum and let M.Y. Developers help you solve the issue.

Let me know if running Corona on a sample app outside of glider has this issue or not.

Thanks,

Ruben

Hello Ruben,

We tried this in the most recent public release of Corona and the problem seems to be resolved for both windows and mac. Please let us know if this is the case for you too.
