can't zoom out on Simulator windows, and Simulator not appears for some devices?

Upgraded to: Version 2014.2496 (2014.11.7)

  1. Noted I can’t Zoom Out on simulator, so not good when you get a big display and you want to make it smaller on the screen

  2. Some devices types (e.g. some of the iphone ones) you see no window at all when you go Windows/ViewAs/<device>

Anyone else seeing this?

Have you tried to do a “Bring all to front”?  It sounds like some of the simulator skins may be off screen, which can happen when you have multiple monitors (or the OS thinks you have multiple monitors).

Did this start with today’s daily build?

I did try this.  It did start with this build, but I did jump forward from CoronaSDK-2014.2473 to 2014.2496

I am also the same problem.

Zoom out is disabled now, on Mac.

Could you try deleting your Corona Simulator preferences and see if that fixes things?  You’ll have to login again when you restart the Simulator.

To delete preferences:

  • Exit Simulator

  • In a Terminal window:

    defaults delete com.coronalabs.Corona_Simulator

  • Restart Simulator

Obviously, this isn’t a solution but I’m curious whether it helps (if you delete your prefs I’m thinking that the Simulator will then continue to work correctly).

Try Window > Center if a skin doesn’t appear on the screen.

I think there must be some old cruft in people’s Simulator preferences that is making windows appear off screen.  If Window > Center brings one of the missing skins on screen it would be awesome if you could exit the Simulator and PM me your preferences file and tell me any of the skins that aren’t showing up.

The file to attach is:

~/Library/Preferences/com.coronalabs.Corona\_Simulator

I’ve run into the same bug on OS X with the latest daily build, 2014.2496. It makes the simulator near-unusable for me on a large monitor.

Fortunately there is a reasonable workaround: choose a borderless view (I tried it with the iPhone @2x), and then you can zoom in and out as much as you like.

Just in case it wasn’t clear: we can’t reproduce the “can’t zoom” issue.

If it’s happening to you, please send me your Corona Simulator preferences as explained above.
