Certificate, Provisioning, App Submission and other newbie nightmares tutorial

Ok, so I bought my Apple developer license in April. My day job has kept me busy until this week and i finally had time to finish my first app. Being a world class noob, I though all I needed to do was hit a magical “submit” button somewhere and watch all the money come rolling into my bank account. Au contraire mon fraire! There is a whole big, ambiguous, and frustrating world out there full of confusing terms that makes learning lua seem like child’s play, courteous of the folks at Apple. Since I learn best from a video, I was fortunate enough to run across the Youtube video(s) that I’ve linked to below. The guy does a reasonably good job of going through the necessary steps for all the nonsense required by Apple. He has a great many videos so it may take a bit of time to find the ones you need.

Lol, yeah the most difficult bit of developing games for iOS is the crazy hoops (IQ challenge?) that Apple put in place to test your patience and stamina. Getting the provisioning profiles and keychain certificates all going was tough and many have given up but those that pass the test go on to create Apps!, which is relatively easy in comparison…

I just uploaded my first game last night and I used this thread as a guide:

http://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2011/03/13/build-app-store

I managed to get through it with just a few sticking points, although I already jumped through the major hoops previously to get the app on my device for testing. Hopefully these 2 threads will cover all the bases for the next people looking for help. [import]uid: 31262 topic_id: 13041 reply_id: 47889[/import]

You’re right, Chris. The signup and submission process is so FUBAR that I can’t help but believe that it is some sort of gatekeeping mechanism. The process surely could be MUCH more streamline. It sure was easier buying the license than it was implementing it; that is for sure.

I found this slide presentation extremely helpful when I was trying to get it all working for the first time:

Hi Peach!

Long time no cyber speak. ;-). Putting this link up was the least I could do considering all the help I’ve received.

I hope this finds you well!

Thanks Jerry

I’m going well - I turn 22 on Friday and I think it will be a good birthday. (It’s been a very good year all in all!)

I think that it’s great you did this - SO many people need this sort of thing

Very first app loaded to the Apple Store without incident. It is pending review.

Here’s my question: I’ve tried to do as MUCH reading about this process as possible. I’ve found lots of answers to my questions, except here’s the scenario I’m putting out there. Apple claims you can initiate the submission process with the intent of uploading the Binary “later”. You have essentially 120 days. I want to reserve my App name on the store, I plan on submitting within 45 days. However, during the process, they do ask for a Screen Shot (at least one). So, my conundrum is that I can put a screenshot out there with the risk of it changing in design slightly.

QUESTION: Can you change your screen shots at a later date? Is there anything you CANNOT change at a later date? I know some of the things you enter during the submission process specifically state “You cannot change this later.” That information I do have all ready to go, but I’m wondering about the screenshot. (or any of the questions that come after that part as I haven’t gotten past that point yet.

I hope this is clear what I’m asking. [import]uid: 74844 topic_id: 13041 reply_id: 48904[/import]

I’ve just submitted one app so far. But I think I remember that there is an “Edit” button that appeared when I submitted my metadata (e.g., keywords, screen shots, app description, etc).

OK, here’s a question. I jumped through all the hoops and was able to submit my app w/o incident. My question is, what steps must I repeat for my SECOND app. I assume the App ID is one of the steps.
