Coding for kids with Corona

When people ask me about programming with their kids (beyond scratch - which is an awesome place to start) I rave about Corona but often end up suggesting other platforms to start with like:

Platforms / Services

bitsbox - a great little programming environment (subscription) that comes in the mail with ideas, recipe cards and updates.

Youth Digital - programming in Java to mod minecraft with really good teachers and a help center that responds rapidly.  They also have 3D game design, animation and 3D modeling and printing courses.

Games

Human Resource Machine - a logic puzzle game that really feel like mathematical programming / problem solving

Lightbot - a robot movement puzzle solved with logic, loops and routines

I’m wondering if we have some things out there in the Corona community that might be good to share.  Self contained experiences would be preferable.  If the parents have to do a lot of prep work, they might turn to an easier solution like the examples above.

I’m also wondering what set up you all think would be easiest for kids learning Corona - Sublime vs. Atom vs. VSCode?

Are there kid friendly Corona web tutorials?

Coding for kids is something parents will spend money on so maybe some of us can find a way to get kids working with Corona and have it be worth our time, financially speaking.

For a complete beginner this is great https://www.buildbox.com/.  In most cases zero coding is required.

@SGS I’d looked at buildbox before but this 2.0 version is a whole new ballgame.

@davebollinger I bet you could make a pretty cool Corona kid programming game.  You have the right mix of thoughtfulness and playfulness.

Maybe not exactly what you guys were talking about, but have a look at https://kano.me/

That’s pretty cool!  Like a visual arduino.  That’s just the kind of stuff I’m talking about.  I’m still planning and thinking about how to set up a kid-friendly approach for kids to use Corona.
