Not specifically related to developing with Corona but does anyone know if you are able to submit an app with Coming Soon features? For instance I want to integrate Facebook and Twitter into my game but want to hold off until the new OAuth stuff is sorted, if I have the buttons in the menu for them but then just have “This feature is coming soon” type popups for them will the game still get approved (assuming it doesn’t fail on anything else)? Hi there. As a general UX thing irrespective of mobile apps or Apple’s review process, it wouldn’t be advisable to lead users to tap on something, unless it’s something like a closed alpha or beta, only to be told that it doesn’t do anything yet. You’re basically presenting them with a choice they can’t take, which for some isn’t a positive experience. In any UI you want to keep the number of choices down, and certainly don’t want to confuse with unmake-able choices.
If the reviewers pick up on the “coming soon” stuff they are likely to reject on the grounds that the app references features that aren’t implemented. You may get lucky since the review process can appear fairly variable in terms of what they see and what judgements they make in the time they have. If you’ve got the time to factor in a rejection cycle, then you might want to risk it if it would be really hard to remove the elements.
But just from a user’s perspective it’s not great to press a button and not have your expectation met. What I’d do is remove all evidence of the dormant buttons from this version and perhaps just allude to the coming soon stuff in the app description. Thank you that, some very good advice. As they are easy to remove I will hide the features for now and add them as coming soon in the App Store description. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 3555 reply_id: 10963[/import]
