Company name for publication

Hello

About next week I landed my app in the official stores.

They naturally ask for the name of the producing company. I do not have a business company but I have a name in mind. I have two questions

  1. Where can I check that this name is available and has not been registered yet?

  2. Is the name I choose to be recorded somewhere to prevent others from copying it?

You failed to tell us if you in the US, Europe, etc.

  1. Don’t know where to check for company name.

  2. To protect it, Trademark it, but that will be big bucks.

A quick google search for ‘how to protect a company name’ brought up relevant data, including :

If you are in the US, you can register your name with your state which should give you some protection within your state, but not globally.

If you do that search and scroll down, there should also be a section called ‘People Also Ask’ with lots of helpful data.

Sry, just posted then deleted entry.  Had wrong post.

For Apple if you want to trade as a company you will to be a company (as in a legal entity separate from yourself) and have a DUNS number.

Google lets you “trade as” and has no such stipulations.

You will have no legal protection globally as Ed explained.  But registering a company in your home country should protect it locally.

I’m in Europe.

Thanks to the help so in essence to do good things serve a bit of money …

Anyway, protecting me at the local level is always better than nothing
