contacts from phonebook

@Danny - I was actually referring to the public interface of the Corona module that will expose the iOS contacts API (and hopefully the Android one too soon thereafter). What methods will we need to call, what parameters do those methods take, and what do those methods return? Or what events are passed to the listeners, if that’s how it’s going to be done?

Thanks for any advance (before the Corona change is added to the daily build) help you can give me!!! I’m really looking forward to this feature.

Hi Chris, my mistake.

Unfortunately I can’t disclose that information yet as we may decide to change something last minute or change variable names etc, so it wouldn’t be productive to release the docs before the plugin. I promise you that we are working as fast as possible to get this released. We know how important this is to people, hence why we are making sure it’s done right the first time.

Thanks for your patience

Brent:

Given there are multiple items for phone#, street addresses, email address,… I’m hoping these items can be selected individually.  However, any contact booik access would greatly enhance my applications.

What is the status on contacts from phonebook? I am building a business app and this is a critical item.

Yes, these items are passed back to the lua listener that is fired after you select a contact

This is very exciting! So it is happening!!! Great news and thanks much!!!

Is there an update on when this will be included in a daily build? I have an app that’s ready to go but is missing one feature - letting the user select from the device’s contacts. Please give me an idea on how close the Corona devs are so that I can determine the best course of action for my app. Thanks!

You can customize the submit key on keyboard

Hi @chrishanson.php,

Essentially, the plugin is being melded into the build process now, then we’ll do a bit more testing and release it. So it’s quite close.

Brent

The Address Book plugin is now available.

Fantastic news. Building it for the device to test right now. Thanks for making it happen. The sample app also looks like a great gem for storyBoard, scrollView and data input use in a business app like setting. I’m sure it will be useful on its own in that regard.

Lastly, how far are you from supporting Android as well for the Addressbook capability? Thanks!!!

@Brent - thanks for your previous reply. Is there any update on when this new functionality should be released? I’m at an almost complete standstill. If it’s still being QA’d or whatever, is it possible for you to at least publish the interface of the Corona Contacts API so that I can mock it for now?

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris. If you are talking about the address book “UI” there isn’t a custom one. We simply show the same view controller as you can already see in apples contacts application.

Sorry for the late answer. We like to have api’s on both platforms so yes! I don’t have an ETA for you at present however.

Great news! It sure helps in planning feature sets. Thank you very much.
