Corona Activation/Registration

How is Corona activated/registered? Is it locked to a single machine, or can I install it on both of my Macs, as long as I only use one instance at any time?

One of my Macs is at the office, and the other is at home, so I fully expect to be developing my game at both locations.

So far you can only use it at one machine. There are talks here in the forum about deactivating a license and then reactivating it, but I don’t know how this works. I guess it is more for a situation, where you get a new computer and want to transfer the SDK to it… [import]uid: 5712 topic_id: 801 reply_id: 1692[/import]

Thanks for the clarification.

Hmmm… I’m not a fan of this type of license. I feel I should be able to use purchased software on any of my machines. I probably split my time 50/50 over the two machines, so this license doesn’t seem to be a fit for me. It’s probably too restrictive for my development practices. I too have 3 machines I develop on

  1. Home (Mac) - 70%
  2. Work (Mac - 20%
  3. Work (PC) - 10%

Can the Licence be locked down to only 1 PC/Mac being used at a time? [import]uid: 89946 topic_id: 801 reply_id: 64533[/import]

Hi Neitafe,

Every paid user may use Corona on TWO machines at once now.

I hope this helps.

I think “2 machines at the same time” is a very good thing. More machines gives Ansca headaches - I think so. And everybody can work with more machines but have to “transport the license” each time. As far as I sit most of the times in front of a MacBook and a Linux/Windows box Anscas handling is perfect for me. And yes I work on Corona projects on both platform at the same time. I know some other software - as an example Cubase and some VST plugins where you have only a one seat license but the use of an USB dongle makes the “license transport” very easy to handle. So what I see is - everybody should be happy with two seats but maybe one need an easier “transport process” as an example where you can deactivate by web in your profile. So you have no problems if you “forget to deactivate” like now. [import]uid: 70114 topic_id: 801 reply_id: 64593[/import]

What’s the easiest way to let my developer use the other license?
Thanks,

dbldare, when you say other license I assume you mean other “seat” and that you only have one license?

If he needs to be able to build for the store then you would need to authorize his machine as well, which means authorizing it yourself (if he works in your office) or providing him with your log in details, which is not a good idea at all for obvious security reasons. I’d have him/her get their own account.

Peach,

Thanks for the reply. I do mean “seat”, but his machine is not local. He’s in a different state. If he creates an account for himself, how do I authorize his machine ‘from a distance’?
Thanks again,

Hey there,

Honestly it isn’t something I’d normally do, use my details on another person’s machine.

However, if you absolutely must I suppose you could use TeamViewer to type in your own information without telling him your password. (I’m not saying this is totally safe by any means, he may have a keylogger, etc.)

You should know him well enough to trust he will deauthorize when your project is up.
