corona cloud notification emails

Hi Guys!

We are in the process of finishing up a multi-player turn based game.  We had built our own server but were very interested in the scaling capability corona cloud brings to the table.  We branched our code as a sort of trial and switched our login process over to corona cloud.  It was straight-forward but we really are not a fan of the verification email that gets sent to the user from “corona cloud”.  Even if there was a way we could just get our app name in the message–so the user relates the two it would be a huge help.  Is this possible from the dashboard or something and we just missed it?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Ah–just found another thread on this topic so I guess the answer to my question is a big fat no.  I saw a couple “work-arounds” but they were all hacks that circumvent the user’s ability to share a login across all games in the corona cloud, as well as make password recovery/reset impossible.  Too bad the team at Corona hasn’t thought this through a little more.  The simple ability to customize this email or thwart it all together would go a long way toward making the cloud offering seem competitive with services like parse.  Looks like we might have to stick to our custom game server for the time being or explore other cloud-based options.

w.j. - yes, thanks for the messages. We are aware that this is an important feature and will try to address it soon.

I deleted a post from a well know troll that is apparently now also pseudo-impersonating me

You fired the corona cloud guys thats why you keep erasing my posts. You know it. What is with the paranoia?

RobLucifer/Whatever name you choose today - there is no paranoia. Yes, some team members have recently “moved on”. That happens all the time and no one is hiding it. No one is irreplaceable and companies/products keep on going.

Now that we have “made that clear”, I am deleting your posts (and we will continue to do so) because you add nothing to the conversation and insist on trolling.

Thanks.

(w.j.francis. - my apologies for the spam in your inbox due to this. If you have any questions, please email me: davidATcoronalabs).

David, I feel your pain with regards to the ongoing negative propaganda. I have no idea what the background is and don’t really need to. Its just not right. If there are issues at hand we should be able to handle these maturely as the adults that we are.

I just wanted to say this though; given the uncertainty cast upon the cloud with little to no news on samples, tutorials, fixes etc and now with the news about key staff members “moving on”, perhaps it is a good time for Walter to say a few words on the blog about Corona Labs’ strategic intent vis a vis the Corona Cloud offering.

Compared to the rest of Corona SDK & API, the Corona Cloud is very much in infancy IMHO. I am desperately in need of certain services which Corona Cloud seems to be offering. I would love to get my hands dirty and start making use of this exciting new offering. Still…

If I am to invest my time in learning the ropes for the Cloud product and also subscribe with a monthly cost etc I am afraid I need a little more assurance from Corona Labs leadership in terms of what their future plans for this important platform is. It is simply not acceptable not to have a working sample on key features and little to no word on what we can expect and when.

This needs to be addressed urgently in order not to erode customer trust in the product any further.

Thanks for hearing me out. Wishing all a great weekend.

Thanks ksan, and also thank you (very much) for the professional tone. You are right - we need to be clear about what the future of the product is, and we will do so.

Let me be clear that the personnel changes happened quite recently and I’m sure you understand that not all the answers are available right away. What is clear is that we will always make sure that there are no sudden product changes that will take customers by surprise.

As for your other points - yes, not all the resources for Cloud that are necessary are there yet. it is indeed in its infancy. We are acutely aware of this.

David

David,

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond on your Friday evening. I appreciate the candor and look forward to developments on this front.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Kerem

David,

Another week has gone by with no word from Walter or other senior CL leadership on strategic intent vis a vis Corona Cloud. Are they really going to keep ignoring the rising customer sentiment? The insult is growing larger than the injury…

No news on fixes, samples or tutorials either. Is it not clear to the CL leadership that this debacle is marring an otherwise amazing reputation and track record? Silence is not golden in matters involving crisis management and customer confidence…

Have a great weekend. Regards,

Kerem

Kerem,

I hear you. We will have an “official” post on this very soon. We aren’t just sitting around doing nothing around this, but your point is well taken.

David

Hi David,

Thanks for the acknowledgement.

I don’t for a second think that CL is sitting around doing nothing. I realize this is a key investment for CL and possibly it can’t afford to failure. On the other hand we are put in a position to “sit around doing nothing” while waiting for CL to finish whatever it is that it is doing.

The least CL can do is keep an open communications, publish ETAs, progress reports and most importantly tell us what to expect. We are all adults and we can take it. If its going to take 3 more months fine. Just let us know so we can make our business decisions accordingly.

Thank you very much for your attention to this matter. Regards,

Kerem

I would like to pretty much chime in on everything that ksan has said in this thread so far.

Like I just posted in another thread, if Corona expect its users and customers to use this potentially awesome product (the Cloud), then you have to start throwing us some bones.

Looking forward (somewhat impatiently) to the “official” post.

Thanks

Joel
