Corona Comic Template: "Eyes of the Prophet"

I checked out the “Eyes of the Prophet” comic. I really like it. This would be great for me. I bought Corona to make iPad GUI’s for my own graphic novel. I was going to use CS5 but that is not an option now.
I don’t want to used the ePub format, I want to “encase” my comic in an app. When will Corona users be able to use this “template” or “code” to create our own iPad comics? Also will you be adding some more functionality to the current comic app. The Corona Comic Template: “Eyes of the Prophet” app looks really good.

Mujo,

Thanks for your comments regarding the app. We are very pleased with our initial comic app launch. The goal was to showcase how it can be done in order to attract artists such as yourself. In regards to your question, w e are putting together a ‘How to Guide’ for yourself and many others out there that would like to publish their own web comics. This is will be released shortly. Once released, you will be able to encase you comic in an app just like the " Eyes of the Prophet " comic was done. The How to Guide will contain all the necessary info for you to create your graphic novel and distribute through iPad. Going forward, more functions will be added. Let us know if you have any more questions and we’ll happy to address them.

thanks,
Sebastian

SWEEEET!!! I can’t wait. [import]uid: 6724 topic_id: 1391 reply_id: 3883[/import]

The forum needs a “delete” button, so that author can remove duplicate message … [import]uid: 6143 topic_id: 1391 reply_id: 3886[/import]

It’s great that you have a comic app. I have five complete comics that were previously published on paper ready to be converted to iPhone/iPad/Android. I wasn’t able to view your solution, because I currently don’t have an iPad, only the iPhone and a Droid. Does your solution work for these two platforms in addition to the iPad?
I can’t wait to start using your solution.
Hope we can get rolling soon …

Great news! We have provided the sample code for creating your comic book apps!

The sample code for the Eyes of the Prophet* iPad app can be found here :

http://developer.anscamobile.com/code/corona-comics

You will also find a link to a downloadable ‘Corona Comics Authoring Guidelines’ PDF. This explains how create your app step by step.
This lists each step of the build rocess, from creating artwork sizing, setting panel coordinates to packaging.

* Please note that the coordinates provided in the sample code are specific to the ‘Eyes of the Prophet’ app and will not work with your assets.

thanks

Hi.

Very nice indeed! Is there a version with just a finger swipe multitouch action
to read pages? Most readers like DC or Marvel work this way too.

Thanks,
John

Hello Sebastian,

I have tried the sample code you published in http://developer.anscamobile.com/code/corona-comics as a main.lua in the simulator, and I have put sample pages named Page0.png, Page1.png and so on in the same folder as main.lua. But when I run it, the screen of the simulator remains blank and nothing happens. When I run the debugger, I see the following message:

> run
1 Page0
54
Is there anything I am doing wrong?

Thanks for your help

Ignacio - the code was updated. There was an error in the code (so, not your fault that it didn’t work!)

Hi…

What is the best approach to add sound to each page movement or a background track?

nanoschoolboy, we just released our updates to the Corona Comics code, which includes sound support.

For more info, see the blog I wrote for Ansca:

And the actual code is now on github:
