The Preface: I love the Corona Feedback page. It gives Corona Labs a great way to check on clamor for certain features without it taking control over the work you actually have to do.
The Problem: It’s defaulting to “Top Ideas” when it should be “New” or “Random”.
Why? When you default to showing the most popular (most voted) ideas, then most users will only ever see the most voted ideas. There’s too many ideas for one page, thus most users will also never see new ideas because they are hidden on the last page. This is a real phenomenon known as “vote stacking”.
With 5 pages of ideas right now (and presumably more soon!) anything not on the first page is basically doomed to die a quiet death because they have no exposure to anyone except users who have time to carefully crawl through every page before voting.
I think many of the ideas listed on the first page have a good reason to be there, but if you look at the vote spread right now (compare voting on page 1 vs 2 or 3) and you’ll see what I mean. You’d probably see a much more realistic vote distribution if there was a randomized or new-focused list. [import]uid: 41884 topic_id: 35312 reply_id: 335312[/import]
I’m checking into this now to see what the best solution is… I’ll keep you posted.
