Corona Forum's Have Become To Difficult To Mange - Solution

I visit Ansca Mobile’s website every day trying to assist people with their questions on the forums. I feel that over the last few weeks (after Corona has gained in popularity) so many users have been getting their questions unanswered. I know personally how frustrating and upsetting it can be to have a question go unanswered. I’ve posted many things on the forums that have never got one response, or even someone saying “I don’t know, good luck”. Lot’s of new users are posting basic questions on the forums that can overload the new posts bar, which can leave some of the more advanced coding questions in the dust.

I was thinking of a cool addition to the Ansca Mobile website that would be innovative and useful to Corona Users and Ansca Mobile alike. My thought was to add a Questions tab in the Community section which would allow people to ask simple questions(sort of like Yahoo Answers):

-How do I add sound to my game?
-Answer: Add this to your code [lua] backgroundMusic = audio.loadStream(“Music.mp3”)
background = audio.play( backgroundMusic, {loops=-1})[/lua]

-What is better, InMobi or Interactive?
*A Poll Question
Button1 = InMobi
Button 2 = Interactive
*The community could then vote on which they like the best and everyone could see the poll results

I was just thinking that a simple Question and Answer format could benefit both people who need an answer to a quick question, and developers who enjoy helping a large amount of people in a short time.

I would like to know if the Corona community thinks this is a good addition, and if so, are their any extra additions that would be appropriate.

We are currently in discussion about changing the forum software and generally revamping things here to make things easier for us and for you guys.

Stay tuned :slight_smile: [import]uid: 84637 topic_id: 19536 reply_id: 75458[/import]

The biggest help would be redoing the documentation!

We have had a flood of newbie’s to Corona and many are new to programming asking very basic questions. Like a core of people here, I answer about a dozen questions a week for users. Some folks are so new and new to development, it’s difficult to help.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve started to loose interest in the forums, as teh questions are becoming increasing more basic and with little opportunity to learn more and derive value from them myself.

The “Corona in 5 Minutes” doc is an awesome concept as a primer, but needs revamping. Maybe a section about what Corona can and cannot do. Also orientation around the limitations of working in a sandboxed mobility platform.

The API doc is not complete, and some of the API’s have code snippets and explainations and other list only the API call and nothing else.

In the payload of the email received for “Test Driver”'s should be the link to the intro Corona docs and an orientation video.

There is also a “sale brochure” quality to some of the documentation. With Ansca maturing and growing, please consider that you have out lived some of the gorilla marketing tactics needed in a earlier phase of start-up.

All growing and maturing pains.

All the best for the holidays and happy new year!,

Take a look at the support section of Urban Airship. When you start typing your question it searches through the support and knowledge database and you will often find the answer before you hit the submit button. [import]uid: 22737 topic_id: 19536 reply_id: 75477[/import]

+12 for better forums [import]uid: 70114 topic_id: 19536 reply_id: 75482[/import]

Glad you’re looking into better forums. I find the search function sucks hard. That is probably the most important part of the forums. [import]uid: 31262 topic_id: 19536 reply_id: 75487[/import]

yep, we need better forums!) [import]uid: 16142 topic_id: 19536 reply_id: 75489[/import]
