Corona Geek Show Topics and Questions

@Charles Another topic which I would LOVE you guys talk about is ASO (app store optimization) I decided to start a conversation about this important topic in the forum

http://developer.coronalabs.com/forum/2013/01/26/conversation-about-aso-app-store-optimization-please-join-conversation

But I think it is important enough (in my view) to the success of any indie app (people who do not 250K to spend on promotion) and hopefully you could bring maybe some guests and company that provide ASO tool such as Appcod.es and SearchMan SEO. I actually started using Appcod.es and so I like it very much. It will be great to get experts on this subjects in the show and maybe asked them to demonstrate how to best use their on a specific app. Show what’s the mistakes that indie make when choosing keywords. I am very attach to the idea of using a specific app on the air and trying to deconstruct it and then improve the keywords. Because talking about app SEO is great but nothing beats going from an app with poor choice of keywords (I think most are) and then showing how to improve it will be very valuable to the Corona community.

I hope to watch an episode on ASO soon on Corona Geek!

Cheers,

Mo

ps: The reason i got interested about ASO is that I discovered that I choose very poorly my keywords on my first app (Space Command) I am waiting for an update with a new set of keywords which I hope will improve my app visibility. Of course it is an on-going process so I think it will take couple iterations before I can find the most optimal keywords… [import]uid: 100814 topic_id: 34687 reply_id: 140452[/import]

Hi Charles,

I’d like to recommend you interview in one of your shows Frederic Raimondi and Jonathan Jot, creators of “Krea”, a great IDE for CoronaSDK. I’ve been using it and it works very well. You can find them at http://native-software.com or in Twitter at @NativeSoftware

The only caviat is that it only works on Windows, but I’ve been using it Parallels (Windows7) and it works pretty well

Thanks Hector. That’s a great suggestion. Jonathan and I exchanged some emails last year about having them on the show. I’m on a Mac as well, so I haven’t had a chance to evaluate the tool, but if you are using it and like it, I’ll work with them to set something up.

Hi Charles

Now that Corona Cloud is out it would be great to have a show segment all about how it works, how to implement it that sort of thing.

The shows about marketing have been great! Thanks a lot.

How about a show that talks about how to get your app into the store, kind of like I have this Corona project and the code is all finished now what??

Just a couple of my thoughts…

Thanks

Joel

Thanks Joel. Those are excellent suggestions. We definitely need to work in more code examples and store conversations. I’ll talk with the cloud team and line up a show devoted to talking about the features and how developers can take advantage of them. We may need to do some side videos apart from the Monday hangout to discuss code and show how it all works. Publishing to app stores is a big topic that we’ll have to break into pieces as well. Maybe a session or two on publishing to Apple and Google would be very helpful. If you’d like to document the process from your perspective, we could talk turning your experience into some guest Corona Geek blog posts. Let me know if you are interested.

Hey Charles. It would be great to document my progress when publishing to the app stores, my first app should be ready to publish in the next few months and I will document the process from my end and get in touch with you when I get it published.

Thanks

I believe someone stole your guys’ idea:

Weren’t you guys talking about doing an app like this some time ago?

Oh that’s awesome! I love the simplicity of it. In my head it was always more complicated, but they’ve kept it light and fun.

What would be great is to backend that with a Voice XML service where you could allow the user to construct the message on their mobile device and then send the recipient a custom email link that then plays a computerized voice message using a voice xml service. That part is a little geeky, but I think it would be cool to connect the technologies together.

I’ve used https://studio.tellme.com before to connect someone’s CRM system so workers could call in and get their schedules read to them by the system. It involved writing code to pull from the CRM database and then return a response to the VXML system. It was fun to work out all the plumbing

I’m tempted to buy it just to see how they implement the final message.

Hey guys, I meant to post this last week, but would you consider doing a tutorial or guide or just something for the new composer that’s replacing storyboard?  I know it’s probably a non-issue for you guys that have been using corona for quite a while but there’s quite a few of us new users who don’t know storyboard and need help learning composer and just don’t have very many resources to do so.

Thanks and keep up the show.

@mdbonneaux, have you seen this tutorial http://docs.coronalabs.com/composer/tutorial.html? Let us know if something more in-depth is needed.
