I’ve created a version of my game that will play itself for awhile and then return to the title screen.
In the simulator, it works just fine.
On the original iPad (32 MB) it works just fine.
On the iPad 2 (64 MB) it works just fine.
But when I run on the new iPad (64 MB), it will play the first time through at normal speed, then each subsequent run gets a bit slower and slower. After four or so runs it’s in slow motion. The original iPad is running it faster at this point.
All three iPads are running iOS 5.1. The game was copied to all three, one after the other, using Xcode from my MacBook Air. (So they are all running the same code.)
The original iPad and iPad 2 don’t have the slowdown over time, it only happens on the new iPad. I’ve been struggling over this for a week, and there are no memory leaks.
I do NOT have retina graphics. The same graphics are being used in all cases.
The game works the best on the iPad 2 with excellent performance and no slowdown. The original iPad is next with just a bit slower performance (obviously). The new iPad is the worst with the cascading slowdown after the first run. Obviously this is not the way it should be!
Don’t really know what to do any more except give up on it for now…
