Corona Labs website

I just wanted to let you guys (at Corona Labs) know I got a message about logging into a staging server when I went to coronalabs.com this morning.  I just hit cancel and everything seems fine.  I notice the website header is a little bit different, so I thought maybe something had gotten released to production by mistake.

Not sure if anyone else is getting it or if I’m just special.

Dave

Idem for me

Nice. Seems like Corona Labs which is always short of resources to fix bugs and add to features had a sudden need to ‘improve’ its web front… Way to go in resource allocation and utilization…

We are aware of the problem and are working to get it fixed.

Kerem, companies need more people to operate the business than product producers.  In a software shop, we have to have people to manage the website and the servers.  These are skill sets different than other developers have.  We have to have accountants, support staff, QA team members and marketing/public relations staff as well.  It’s not one big pool of engineers doing everything.

You can’t run a business without the infrastructure to support it and you can’t allocate resources out of those pools to make product.

Rob

I fully understand the need to have a solid infrastructure to run a business. Its just that no amount of infrastructure investment will make an inferior product better.

To cut to the chase, IMHO, Fuse Powered management should ‘help’ refocus Corona Labs subsidiary on a ‘product first’ strategy until such time investing in making prettier websites make sense to the customers who pay for that inferior product. Its all about the intent and the message you are sending out. While many long awaited bug fixes remain in back burner due to ‘resource shortage’ making ‘nice to have’ improvements to company website simply rubs this customer the wrong way. Others’ thoughts may vary.

I’m not going to fuel a discussion about resource allocation here, but Rob, could you please let someone know that needing two clicks to get to the forum instead of one is annoying (in a minor way) to the regulars?

Kerem, being over-the-top negative rarely helps anything. I hate to see simple posts like this turned into arguments. I’ve seen many of your other posts, and I think you’ve even helped me a time or two here on the forums, and for that I’m thankful. Lately, though, you’ve been quite angry. Is there any way to tilt things back the other way?

Dave

Apologies for using your thread as the basis of my argument.

I used to be a very strong supporter of Corona SDK but this is sadly no more. My perspective can be found at length here so I won’t repeat it : http://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/52129-windows-8-support-but-still-no-love-for-biz-app-devs/

I am not angry. Very frustrated for having stuck with this platform for as long as I have despite all the warning signals. If anything, I am angry at myself for the amount of time I have invested in trying to find ways around the shortcomings and roadblocks in Corona SDK.

Once again apologies for making use of your thread. Should have created one of my own I suppose.
